Between Night and Dawn

The night hovers on the edge of twilight, and the air stands perfectly still, carrying with it the scent of a warm carpet of pine needles.The silence is broken by the peculiar call of a bird flying over the heath forest. Occasionally, the bird alights on the ground, only to take to the skies once more to hunt moths invisible to the human eye.
