Beulah Louise Overell and George Bud Gollum: Murder on the Mary E.

March 15, 1947. Newport Harbor, California. Walter and Beulah Overell are spending the evening aboard their yacht, the Mary E., with their daughter, Louise, and her fiancé, George “Bud” Gollum. Around 11 p.m., Louise and Bud leave the boat and head ashore in search of a late-night meal. When they return to the pier, the Mary E. is engulfed in flames and sinking into the harbor. Walter and Beulah are still aboard. At first, the explosion appears to be a tragic accident. But as investigators examine the wreckage, disturbing questions begin to surface.
