Korte geschiedenis Lutheranen in Beverwijk In 1769 besloten de Lutheranen in Beverwijk en omstreken om een eigen gemeente te stichten en drie jaar later werd aan de Koningstraat een voormalige herberg gekocht en omgebouwd tot kerk. De kelder, met oude plavuizen, is nog steeds aanwezig. Helaas raakte de jonge gemeente al na korte tijd door financieel wanbeheer in zo grote moeilijkheden, dat haar bezittingen in het openbaar moesten worden verkocht. De kerk ging onder de hamer, maar werd gekocht door de lutherse Amsterdamse koopman Joan Coenraad Brandt, die alles vervolgens weer terug schonk aan de gemeente. Bovendien liet hij het gebouw verfraaien met stucwerk, de preekstoel, het kerkplein en een gevelsteen. Dominee Folkers schonk de prachtige Lutherbijbel, waar Brandt het zilverbeslag op liet zetten, die nu te zien is in Onder de Zwaan, de nieuwe tentoonstelling van het Luther Museum. Te bezoeken tot en met 14 juni 2026. Bijzonder is dat dominee Ferdinand Domela Nieuwenhuis van 1871 tot 1875 in de Lutherse Kerk in Beverwijk predikte.  In 1997 is de Lutherse gemeente Beverwijk gefuseerd met die van Haarlem en de kerk in Beverwijk werd verkocht aan de Stichting Oude Hollandse Kerken. Karel ten Broecke en Liesbeth ten Broecke waren vanaf 1970 lid bij de Evangelisch-Lutherse Gemeente Beverwijk-Velsen. Zij zijn betrokken geweest in het bestuur van de kerk en bij allerlei activiteiten. Sinds de fusie in 1997 met de Lutherse Gemeente in Haarlem, kerken Karel en Liesbeth in Haarlem.
