Beyond Worldly Standards: Measuring Life by God’s Measure Today’s readings urge Christians not to measure their spiritual lives by worldly standards, . . . . . . such as material success or external acts of piety, but instead by the divine standard given by Jesus: “Be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect.” The world encourages selective love and reciprocity, but Christ calls His followers to radical love . . . even for enemies . . . and generous self-giving. This perfection is not about being flawless but about striving to love as God loves. The example of the Macedonian churches shows how true generosity flows from first giving oneself to God.
