#BHN Frontline Hospital Staff cut| Gumboot Friday's 'unusual' contract | RBNZ cuts OCR

from #BHN Big Hairy News · host Big Hairy Network

Health NZ wants to cut four chief medical officer roles. Health New Zealand (HNZ) wants to reduce the number of chief medical officers, from 18 to 14 nationwide, while also promising not to cut front-line medical roles. Joining us tonight LIVE is Dr. Gary Payinda, an emergency department doctor who explains "the CMO is the doctor (usually highly respected) that helps handle patient complaints, staff crises/discipline, investigates errors, leads doctor education and competency, and provides doctor input and medical leadership for the hospital." The Reserve Bank has cut the official cash rate by 50 basis points to 4.75%. Finance Minister Nicola Willis celebrated the “fantastic news” of the falling OCR, while major banks immediately responded with their own interest rate cuts. The $24 million contract awarded to Mike King’s mental health charity by the National-led Government was “inconsistent and unusual” and the Ministry of Health did not fully inform ministers of the risks. ================================== Come support the work we're doing by becoming a Patron of #BHN www.patreon.com/BigHairyNews Merch available at www.BHNShop.nz Like us on Facebook www.facebook.com/BigHairyNews Follow us on Twitter. @patbrittenden @Chewie_NZ
