It has been reported that the decision to not recognise Palestine at the UN earlier this year came directly from Winston Peters Foreign Affairs office, with little to no consultation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In another example of ideology over expertise: Louise Upston was questioned in the house regarding the decision to means test the parents of 18 & 19 year olds and take away their jobseeker benefit payments.
