After being widely criticised for her handling of the crisis gripping the media industry in the wake of Newshub's closure, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has stripped Melissa Lee of her role as media minister and removed her from the Cabinet. A leaked document shows the Canterbury/Waitaha arm of health agency Te Whatu Ora is scurrying to save $13.3 million by July. While thousands of public sector jobs are being cut as part of the Government’s savings drive, Health Minister Dr Shane Reti says Te Whatu Ora isn’t subject to that directive...or so it would seem.
