The Big 12 rejected a lucrative University of Memphis proposal for the Tigers to join that Power 4 conference. The news broke as its current home, the American Conference, launched new branding complete with slogan - Built to Rise - and mascot - Soar the Eagle. UAB once made an overture to the Big 12.
