BIG BROTHER? Sacramento Takes a Peek Inside Your Green Can

Sacramento is inspecting thousands of residential garbage, recycling, and organic waste bins to make sure residents are properly separating food scraps and other compostable materials. The checks are required under California’s SB 1383, which aims to reduce methane emissions from landfills. Residents won't be fined, but they may receive educational tags if contamination is found.
