Big Daphnis Energy

Things are getting HOT in the Inline G studio, as I deep dive into perhaps the sexiest piece (and flute solo) of all time; Daphnis et Chloé by Maurice Ravel. It almost goes without saying, however there is a trigger warning for this episode; I'll be discussing things of a sexual nature and strong sexual themes, and the podcast does include strong language throughout (although that bit is hardly news.) Anyway, this is is your one-stop-shop for all the background knowledge you need on the flute's most famous orchestral solo. The episode includes a quick history lesson, a concise explanation of the story, a short look at Pan (the pervy Greek god), some info on Ravel himself (including his Siamese cat's name) and finally, an analysis into all the things that make this music so God damn sexy. Scroll down here to find a list of chapters if you fancy skipping to a certain bit. Pop back next week when I'll be reviewing my favourite 5 recordings of the flute solo itself (including time stamps and track numbers so you can easily find them on all your streaming services.)
