Some governments are enacting legislation to give citizens more control over their personal data (GDPR in Europe), while at the same time almost all major governments are putting up more surveillance cameras, and collecting citizen data at a rapidly increasing pace. Many are worried about “Big Data”, a lack of personal privacy, and how your personal information can be used - even proactively - not only by businesses, but also by governments, and potentially even by rogue organizations, terrorist, and criminals.
