Big Faith

from Heart Talk with Kelly Goldson-Vaas · host Kelly

“He (Jesus) was not able to do a miracle there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. And he was amazed at their unbelief...” ‭‭- Mark‬ ‭6:5-6‬ ‭CSB This verse stops me in my tracks. I wonder how many times we block a blessing because our faith is too small? The idea of Jesus being amazed by my LACK of faith just makes me cringe… I don’t want to miss out on what God has for me because I don’t believe. This week on Heart Talk, I am releasing two new episodes! The first one is this quick, 5 minute episode to encourage you to press through difficult circumstances with strong faith! The second episode will be out this Saturday… and let’s just say, it might take you by surprise! - Kelly

So I was reading this past week in the book of Mark and something struck me here that I've never noticed before and I thought it's worth managing for sure. So in mark 6 Jesus who's been traveling from ministry for a while. He goes home to his own town and He tries to carry on ministry around all of his former friends and neighbors and people who know his family and automatically they discount him and say Aren't you Mary Son? Aren't you Joseph's son?

Aren't these guys your siblings? What are you trying to do? Preach to us like come on get get out of here. And so because of their lack of faith The Bible specifically says here that Jesus could not do any miracles There except to lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them and specifically in verse 6 it says he was amazed at the lack of faith I just wonder how many times In my life and maybe in your life How many times do we block a blessing because we don't have faith that God can do it or that our view of God is small and then honestly Just getting kind of real I think it's possible to grow so familiar with God that you forget he's God that he can do anything I think it's important to know that God loves you and that he's with you And of course to grow familiar with him and walk through life with him But it's so easy to forget.

He's not just another friend He's a mighty friend in our lives and he truly is omnipotent He can do anything and everything and I think that our faith starts to shrink when you forget that I wrote here specifically that I never want Jesus to be amazed by my lack of faith I just like that just feels a lot like When somebody you respect a whole lot is disappointed in you He's the one person I don't want to disappoint in my life But I get it like there are some seasons when your faith is being stretched and It's hard to believe in the same way that you used to God told me something a couple of years ago That's helped me to believe even when I don't understand When you just have a lot of questions and you don't have a lot of answers yet And you're kind of waiting on God to bring about a resolution or some kind of a breakthrough So here's what he told me that I wrote down and I come back to it every couple months So it's important to remember four things one that God is sovereign supremely in control Two God is holy and he's trustworthy three God is good and he's kind Four God has a plan for you. That's all you need to know for now For me if I can just stand on those four truths That God is sovereign that he's in control that he's holy and that I can trust him That he's good and he's kind and he's a plan for me It's all that I need to know at that moment because all of my deepest questions in my soul Usually revolve around those four truths. Can I really trust God? Will he come through for me?

Yes, God's trustworthy. Is this all going to be okay? Yes, because God's in control Um, did I do something wrong? Did I make God not know God loves me?

He's kind he'll forgive me even if I did do something wrong and four God has a plan for me if I can just know that then I know enough That faith and to keep going and Hebrews chapter 11 verse six We're told and without faith living within us it would be impossible to please God For we come to God in faith knowing that he is real and that he rewards the faith of those who passionately seek him Yeah, so without faith it's impossible to please God and often in scripture With Jesus as he was going around the ministry healing lives and saving people amazing. Um, I've noticed that often He would be impressed by people's faith and the more faith that they had in him The more he was able to work in their lives and it's not that God is limited or that his hands are tied But he uses our faith to bring about miracles So if we have a tiny if we don't have a lot of faith Then he's just not going to move in our lives in the ways that we need him to So I just encourage you today to ask God for big things to believe that he'll not only provide The answers you need but he'll provide them fully and completely that he won't just give you a little bit of what you need him to do He will completely fill every need you feel he is sufficient He can do it just have big faith and know that God will never feel you ever Okay, bye
