Big Rigs 2022 - Discourse in Canada, The Messy Middle and Use of Force

from Mastering Risk · host Jeff

Send us Fan MailMy contribution to the ongoing issue in my city of Ottawa.  This is not a go truckers or smash truckers podcast episode.  The truckers are used as a context to understand why our discourse is so much in need of assistance.  We approach these situations as "we need to win", out narrative is just and right.  We lost the ability, fuelled by identity politics and the corporate media to have a debate on issues - the idea of living in the messy middle of democracy.  We don't collaborate, negotiate - we intimidate: with our protests and our police.  Many who call for the use of force don't truly understand what that means.  Clearing the protest is just not some arrests and tow trucks.  It is the application of force against citizens, which some will oppose leading to physical violence between police and citizens.  I truly don't think many understand what will descend on Ottawa if a trucker is killed in police operations.  Nothing in the nation's capital is prepared for that level of intervention by the population.  So lets learn to chat, to have a double double and debate - lets see the other side for what they are - Canadians who hold different opinions on events, they're our neighbours, friends and colleagues.Support the showhttps://preparednesslabs.ca/
