Before Fight Club, we talk about the show’s video audience, the difficulty of turning that audience into station revenue and the listeners who repeatedly step up for veteran, police-family and animal causes. The frustration spills into a management rant, jokes about contributors who have not donated and a reminder that the audience keeps proving its value even when the people upstairs fail to act on it. Fight Club features a parking-lot brawl near the beach, complete with bikinis, a hard takedown, elbows, a smother and a second round of grappling. With little useful audio, we study the moves, argue over mismatched sizes and turn the clip into a debate about shame, public conduct, caning and the wide gap between harsh punishment abroad and repeat offenders returning to American streets. The crew also puts the production team on trial for the missing sound before Nick accepts the blame.
