Bill C-69

from Unpublished Cafe · host Unpublished Media Inc.

Today on the Unpublished Cafe podcast: The Liberals have staked a claim on the environment turning the Ministry of the Environment to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. And that Minister, Ottawa Centre MP, Catherine McKenna is now shepherding in Bill C69, the Impact Assessment Act and the Canadian Energy Regulator Act, to amend the Navigation Protection Act. It would replace, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 which was brought in by the Conservatives. At the time, many felt the government of the day was turning it's back on the environment and science in favour of economics. Flash forward to February of this year and the Liberals introduced Bill C 69. It has been contentious at Committee with one member resigning in protest of the Liberals heavy handed tactics. The Liberals promised to make the legislation more robust and transparent, yet there is plenty of opaqueness. The resource sector, mining and oil feel the legislation goes too far and suggests it will put a squeeze on new projects. ———————————— In this episode we search for more perspective surrounding this bill: http://www.parl.ca/DocumentViewer/en/42-1/bill/C-69/first-reading ———————————— https://www.unpublished.vote/issue/114/bill-c-69 ———————————— GUESTS: Ed Fast http://edfast.ca/ Conservative environment critic and Mp for Abbotsford Patrick DeRochie https://twitter.com/PatDeRocH/ Program Manager, Climate & Energy with Environmental Defense Lindsay Telfer https://twitter.com/ltelfer/ https://www.freshwateralliance.ca/team/ Project Director: Canadian Freshwater Alliance Josh Ginsberg https://www.ecojustice.ca/people/josh... If you were am MP in Canada would you vote for this bill? The federal Liberals made big noise during the 2015 election campaign about the Conservatives penchant for Omnibus bills to ram their legislation through Parliament. Now it appears the Grits are taking a page out of the Tories playbook.

Patti Talks Too Much Patti Hi. I'm Patti and it's been said - many times - that I talk too much. I'm a teacher, author, nature lover and for ten years I owned a coffeehouse cafe where my faith in the goodness of humans was restored every day. This podcast highlights the awesomeness of humanity - er...outside the warmongers, globalists, tyrants and politicians in general. You know, the rest of us weird, quirky and sometimes hilarious humans. We'll talk woo, probe mysteries and leave you thinking about something more interesting or entertaining or uplifting than your grocery list, or boss or that oil change your car needs. I talk too much because I can't help my Gemini moon and Leo Rising nature. I do a podcast because it's cheaper, funnier and more productive than therapy.
