Bill Gates – The Software Revolution

This episode explores the life and legacy of Bill Gates, the visionary entrepreneur who helped transform personal computing from a niche technology into a global necessity. While many early innovators focused on building better hardware, Gates recognized that software would become the true engine of the digital revolution. From his childhood passion for programming to co-founding Microsoft with Paul Allen, the episode follows Gates' determination to place "a computer on every desk and in every home." Through the development of MS-DOS and later Microsoft Windows, his company made computers more accessible, user-friendly, and indispensable for businesses, schools, and families around the world. The episode also examines Microsoft's rise to dominance, the fierce competition of the software industry, and the legal challenges that accompanied its extraordinary success. Despite criticism and controversy, Gates continued to shape the future of technology, helping establish software as the foundation of the modern digital economy. In the second half of his life, Gates shifted his focus from building software to solving global challenges.
