We're privileged to have Bill Schoening, veteran voice of the San Antonio Spurs basketball team spend the majority of the show with us today. We discuss his book Stories, Sports, and Songs featuring 101 short chapters full of Philadelphia history (where he was born and raised), his journalism, media & broadcasting path, a wide variety of people Schoening has met and worked with, and songs he has written along the way that often complement his ongoing story. Throughout the book and in our chat, Schoening also shares about his family, faith in the Lord, and ministry and work with the incarcerated. "Philly Billy"--or in the case of Spurs superstar Tim "The Big Fundamental" Duncan, who has always just called Schoening "Philly"--has announced close to 2200 consecutive Spurs games (including preseason and 4 Spurs championship runs).
