Bill Shorten has a plan for universities — a new tax

from The Radio National Hour · host Australian Broadcasting Corporation

Bill Shorten took some big risks in his political career and he’s continued in that spirit in latest  his role as Vice Chancellor of the University of Canberra, proposing a levy on corporate profits to help fund higher education. It's the holy grail of CO2 abatement, and the government has spent billions trying to make it so. But carbon capture and storage or CCS has yet to live up to its promise in Australia. In Norwa, it's a different story, with a number of large scale projects up and running and carbon being imported in from all over Europe and stored under the ocean floor. Super-recognisers are hired by police and security agencies for their unique ability to spot a face in the crowd, but when it comes to picking an AI generated face from the crowd, their intuition fails them.
