Bill discusses how he was the only member of the Stones to experience World War II, recalling the hardships and some shocking moments. Growing up in very modest circumstances he talks about how he built his first bass himself and provided the Stones with some of his homemade equipment in their earliest days. He shares how he felt about being offered to play with Ray Charles and having difficulty accepting compliments from acclaimed French artist Marc Chagall.
