The U.S. military has intercepted and redirected at least three Iranian-flagged oil tankers in Asian waters as part of an expanding maritime blockade. Iran’s lead negotiator and Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, declared that reopening the Strait of Hormuz is "impossible" as long as the United States continues its naval blockade. Israeli forces killed five people in Lebanon on April 22, 2026, including journalist Amal Khalil. An Israeli drone strike in northern Gaza killed five Palestinians, including three children. Secretary of the Navy John Phelan is leaving his post "effective immediately". The Japanese company Terra Drone Corporation has officially deployed its first weapon, the Terra A1 interceptor drone, on the battlefield in Ukraine as part of a strategic tie-up with Ukrainian startup Amazing Drones. Cryptocurrency billionaire Justin Sun, founder of the Tron blockchain, filed a federal lawsuit against World Liberty Financial (WLF), the crypto venture co-founded by President Donald Trump and his sons. Singapore's Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan warned that current disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz are merely a "dry run" for a potential, far more catastrophic conflict between the U.S. and China in the Pacific.
