from The iHeart SoCal Show

Teen Cancer America is a national nonprofit that partners with hospitals to build specialized facilities and provide programs for young people fighting cancer and undergoing cancer treatments. One of their BIG fundraisers is coming up...their Rock n Polo event, BACK in the Palisades, the first major charity event held at Will Rogers Park since its re-opening after the 2025 fires. An incredible opportunity to bring the community together, this distinguished gathering unites generosity, glamour, and good will in support of teens and young adults battling cancer on Sat June 20th. Aired May 31, 2026: In this podcast, Lisa Foxx interviews Teen Cancer America's new CEO Shannon Sullivan AND Tammi Shapiro, who lost her nephew Graysen at age 15 to a rare form of cancer. Time to rock your best Polo look, enjoy food, drinks, a live DJ, silent auction, 2 polo matches AND BILLY IDOL LIVE!! 🙂  This year’s event is being held in loving memory of Graysen Briggs, a young man who was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer in 2023 and passed away a year later, one month shy of his 16th birthday. His family – parents Michele and John Briggs, brother Caden, and Aunt Tammi and Uncle Alan Shapiro, created the Graysen Briggs Tribute Fund with Teen Cancer America. Their goal is to help other young people like Graysen receive the compassionate care and specialized treatment they deserve when facing a cancer diagnosis. Teen Cancer America, founded by rock icons Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend of The Who.  Mission & Core Focus Age-Appropriate Care: Teenagers and young adults (ages 15 to 39) fall into a unique gap in medicine, often being treated in either pediatric units or adult wards. Hospital Integration: The organization helps medical centers and community clinics nationwide establish dedicated adolescent and young adult (AYA) oncology programs Programs & Resources Hospital Units: TCA works directly with medical centers to fund and design state-of-the-art teen lounges and specialized treatment units. Creative Connection: They host online community hubs and music-focused hangouts—such as the "Play it Back Experience"—to help survivors and patients connect through the arts. Community Grants: TCA issues Community AYA Project Grants to expand access to age-appropriate care in community cancer settings.  ALL the info: https://teencanceramerica.org/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
