Biography Flash: GloRilla Makes Hip Hop History Amid Young Thug Drama

GloRilla Biography Flash a weekly Biography. The past few days have seen GloRilla both making hip hop history and generating headlines for savvy responses to rap industry drama. The biggest story—no question—is her latest Billboard achievement. According to HotNewHipHop, GloRilla just became the third female rapper in history to score six number one hits on Billboard’s Mainstream RB/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, thanks to her track Typa climbing to the top. This puts her in elite company alongside Cardi B and Nicki Minaj, and fans on social media are all in agreement—this milestone was well deserved and solidifies her as one of the hardest-working and most successful new voices to come out of Memphis in recent years. But alongside those career highs, GloRilla’s name is circulating for a very different reason—her recent clash, or perhaps more accurately, her cool-headed comeback, following some comments made by Young Thug. Last week, audio from one of Young Thug’s jailhouse calls leaked online where he insulted GloRilla’s appearance rather harshly, prompting an online frenzy. Instead of showing any signs of being rattled, she fired back on X—formerly Twitter—pointing out the irony and deflating his attacks with humor, referencing how he used to call her to ask about the color of her eyes. Young Thug then publicly apologized to her, blaming his situation behind bars for the negative outburst and saying he doesn’t actually think she's unattractive. Sexyy Red even jumped into the conversation, posting a video with GloRilla from the MTV Video Music Awards and making light of the beef, which kept the whole thing in a playful—but headline-grabbing—space. GloRilla herself trolled the situation by posting a VMA photo captioned Brianna—a nod to Young Thug’s jabs—with the song Rihanna playing; Thug popped up in her comments with heart emojis, further signaling an end to any animosity. Yet it didn’t quite end there. In the past 24 hours, a leaked snippet of a new GloRilla song made the rounds online, and according to Power 107 and iHeart, it includes explicit disses aimed at both Young Thug and Mariah The Scientist, referencing the very feud that’s been lighting up social feeds. While GloRilla herself has not released or officially endorsed this track, nor commented on it as of this taping, its explicit response has the internet speculating about whether she intends to escalate, or simply let the music speak for her. So far, there’s no confirmed report of a full-blown rap beef, but fans will be watching closely to see if this drama turns into something bigger or remains more about clever clapbacks and meme-worthy moments. Either way, GloRilla is proving she knows how to handle the spotlight and keep control of her narrative—using both her music and her platform. Thank you for listening.
