Biography Flash Toto Wolff Takes Aim at Horner and Backs Antonelli in a Wild Week for Mercedes and F1

Toto Wolff has dominated F1 headlines this week with his sharp words on old rival Christian Horner and glowing praise for Mercedes young gun Kimi Antonelli. In interviews with the Press Association reported by ESPN and Sky Sports on March 30, Wolff cast serious doubt on Horners shot at returning to the paddock after his July 2025 sacking from Red Bull, saying the Brit has broken quite a lot of glass with repercussions in our tight-knit F1 microcosm. He flatly denied any rivalry over Mercedes interest in buying Otro Capitals 24 percent stake in Alpine, calling such talk made up and insisting its pure business as they weigh if it makes sense. CityAM and GB News echoed this, noting Horner is eyeing the same shares alongside talks with ex-McLaren backers MSP Sports Capital, while Wolff mused the sport misses controversial personalities like Horner but wouldnt see him as an ally. On Antonelli, fresh off his second straight win in Japan, Wolff told Sky Sports F1 the Italian teen now leads the Drivers Championship as the youngest ever but needs work on botched race starts, joking these kids learn on automatics so we must teach clutch control. Formula1.com detailed Wolffs mixed feelings on George Russells qualifying woes from a setup blunder, praising Antonellis race control. Just yesterday April 2, F1-Fansite quoted Wolff urging patience on Antonelli hype despite his early title charge, a nod to long-term grooming of Mercesdes next star. Jos Verstappen warned in GPBlog that Wolff and Mercedes will resist major rule changes amid crash concerns, talks set for April 9.
