Welcome back to another episode of PowerMovie Night. You thought it would never happen, but I said, holy shit. This movie has an anniversary. This is my only chance to get away with picking this when it can't be vetoed.
And here we are, talking about Bird Demick, Shock and Terror from 2010. I tried. I tried any demos. How did we even get here?
How did we get to this point? Truly insane. So, Scott, I'm assuming this was a first watch for you, right? And last.
It's amazing. Now, Kyle, you and I were texting because we've definitely both seen this more than once, right? Yes, yeah, yeah. I actually went back to look back in my letterbox history to see this.
Oh, God. That's what your... The tournament was on Letterbox. Yeah, yeah.
Not at the term of the amount of times I've watched it, but certainly the amount, at least gives me a ballpark figure. But no, this is not my first time. I'm not, admittedly, I've not seen any of the sequels. I have the first sequel and it is bad.
But how do you even quantify bad? Is it bad compared to this? It's bad compared to this because this has the charm of someone having no clue what they're doing. The sequel has the energy of, oh, now I'm going to try to repeat the things that people have so much about it.
And it's like, oh, this is Lost It's Plot. He's too in on what people latched on to. And it kind of breaks the movie a little bit. It's like super referential to the first movie.
There's tons of callbacks. It's like, that's how we want it at all. Right, now we weren't invested so much in the characters. The story of us first.
I love the guy's keeping the royal wee. Listen, this film has its fans for the same reasons that the room, or troll to do where it's just a baffling misstep. And it sets me up for a really fun thing that I get to do because it's my turn to do the summary. So what I'm going to do is this.
Can I just couple? Before you do that, Matt, can I just say that this is this movie is kind of like a choose your own adventure that never ends even though you pick the bad choice every time. That's not just my envision that that's what this synopsis is going to be. And if you watch this movie, you just there's so much why there's so much like there's no collusion to the choice that you made previously to get to this point.
Like there is nothing that's true track. So Godspeed's offering. I'm excited to hear what you have to say for this. I'm going to do something.
You do that. You have to get through this. Hey, I just cracked open a Skygazer is the name of the brewery, but the name of the brewery is sort of makes more sense for this movie. I just pick Skygazer sour.
They're known for their sours. This is an orange pineapple twist about you. Something along the perdemic or is it just poison yourself? I do.
I mean, what do you think alcohol is? It's poison. So I got Wolf's Ridge brewing clear sky. It is a lavender lemon sorbet cream ale.
Have you had a fork? No, but a lavender lemon sorbet cream ale, that you said? Yeah, that is that's the best weird beer I've had on this show in years. That's great.
I mean, this is one I will not be throwing down the drain at the end of the recording. It's not that full can off this side. No, like remember when I did that one, I was like, Oh, it's got the worst aftertaste. There's some fruited sour.
That one, I think I took two steps and it was like a big boy pint. And I was like, I'm sorry, this $5 beer is going down the drain. But hey, you know what? That's it's getting written off on taxes because we absolutely add this into our taxes.
Absolutely. Yeah. Listen, if you're not, you're full. All right.
So Birdemic, Shocking, Terrible, right. See what you do with alcohol. You were you purchasing a day demand. So what the movie Birdemic is supposed to be about is the story of a young software salesman named Rod, who meets up with an old classmate and aspiring fashion model, Natalie, whom they begin dating and their relationship is put to the test when birds begin spitting acid and destroying the world in a message about global warming.
Instead, what we actually get is one of the most impressively poorly made movies of all time and it starts with us being treated to an impossibly long driving scene shot on a shaky handheld camera with a looping 30 second musical score. And it's truly, truly some of the worst titles that I've ever seen. You know, any graphic designers know that you just got it. You just got to do a drop shadow.
You have to do a little drop shadow on the text. You have to. And there is nothing here. It is flat as it's bad.
It's bad. It's really rough. After about five minutes of driving, we get our first dialogue exchange and I'm going to do a quick impersonation of the dialogue exchange. It goes, hi, hi, here's the menu.
I'll be back with you. And the movie. You're missing the most important part is her inexplicable Eastern vlog accent. Yeah.
Like it makes it why? No, because she said yes to taking the part. Oh my God. Dude, this movie everybody.
So the movies that you mentioned that are like, Oh, they're so bad. They're good. They're one of the charm because everybody acts like an alien making a movie. They've come to Earth and they're like, still from last week, they're like, they're trying to approximate human emotions, but they also don't really and they know words, but they don't know how the words are supposed to conjugate and like, it is just insane.
And it doesn't feel totally like a loss of translation moment. You know, we watched a kilobody shots last year, two years ago, clearly made like by, you know, somebody who was English was not their first language, right? I think that's the case with her. Demick for sure.
There's there's there's a layer of it without a doubt. There's a line of dialogue and I will get there when we get there. There is a line of dialogue that is so we'll get there, but it's undeniable that they typed it in their normal, in their like native language and then ran it through a translator for the English dialogue because it's not the way a human speaks at all. But beyond beyond the accent, it's at this moment that we realized that this audio was so poorly recorded that any second that someone's not talking, he's cutting all of the audio out of the scene because it'll just be like a buzz when someone's talking and dead deafening silence.
It's crazy. You know, you know, I think and I got to say that the craziest thing beyond that is that they got this beautiful woman to be in the movie. It's to be more who had quite a nice career after this. I would say that she was the person that.
Why do you say had? benefited the most. No, no, no, no, like she benefited the most from bird Demick just by like appearing in a lot of the other schlocky horror films. People wanted to cast her I think for like three years.
She was a film critic for Nerdist because of this movie. Like, wow, she's actually like able to write, you know, like that's good. She also has been vocal about that she did not like working with this director and she knew that this was going to be an absolute fucking shit show from the start because her audition was in a parking lot. And then she got into her car and before she got into home.
Yeah, she met him in a parking lot audition and said that before she even got in home, she got in the call that she was the lead in the movie. And she was like, at that moment, I knew that there was no way this movie was going to be. No, I was like, she is my biggest no is just like, I wonder how the actress felt. She's in my friend Chelsea's satanic panic with Rebecca O'Maine.
And she was in satanic panic. That movie was a satanic. She's in evil baring 888 as waitress. And also that movie is only 59 minutes.
OK, no, I need to get off of her. I'm not going to get it. Sorry. Anyway, this movie opens with the Mecute.
And then we go, this is like one of those things where Kyle, I'm sure you were screaming at the same thing I'm about to scream about. But Rod is watching the news on TV and they're reporting all these global warming issues. And this new shot has like five feet of head space above her. Like the framing of her shot is so insane.
It's insane. And so much headroom is not like there's a chicker up there. You know, it's not like we're like, you know, it's just nothing. There's nothing.
There's nothing. He's eating a dunk and donuts donut at the table. And then we cut to this insane headroom. It is it is it's crazy pants.
Which is truly Max headroom. They would never share my brother. I honestly wish I wish Max had room showed up and just interrupted this broadcast. Talk more about global warming.
I feel like Max headroom is a he's an activist for you. Good spokesman for global warming. If you think that this movie is moving too quick, don't worry, Rod now has to drive to work. And why not?
Let's just follow him. That entire drive. Let's take a pause for him to guess up the car. I'm back at that gas station.
And then just to use live near that gas station. I bent it at exact gas station. I lost my car. This is the four-devant gas station.
I got to go there. I got to go there. I got to go to a location tour. The four is hallowed grounds.
It's called Sean Clark. That's for my DVD features people out there. Here's like where I this is the moment where I started to be charmed by the movie the first time I watched it is when we get a sneak peek at our two leads and their jobs. So Rod is in this small rented space making a phone call and he gives a whoo-hoo at the end of this phone call and then his co-worker walks over and is just like what happened?
He's like I just made a nondescript $1 million sale over the telephone. Dude, that's not even the craziest thing. Well, he does explain it sort of when he has his dinner. Oh yeah, that's a cool.
Basketball court. That's how poorly made the movie is. It looks green screen on the basketball court. But they are definitely at a physical location.
For sure they're on location. But when he has his dinner date, she goes, so she's like what do you do? And she goes, I'm a fashion model. And he goes, and a beautiful one too.
And it's like again, fucking robotic alien craziness. But then she goes, what do you do? And then he goes off on this insane spiel about how he went to college. Wasn't he gonna be like an engineer or a scientist or something?
This movie has so many conversations that give you nothing of important splat. It is literally like a one time filler. It's so bad. Oh my god.
It's really rather me than people like Eiffelbong 8. They also negate so much of what their previous conversations were. The first chance that they meet, I know, we're really only like 10 minutes, maybe 15 in the movie. But I promise you, it's important to talk about that.
They talk about like that they went to school together. And then they talk about how they live in different cities. Or they lived in different cities during their time that they were basically not, they are looning to that they're in high school together. They've known each other as they've been in a vicinity.
But they are not anywhere near each other. It makes, it makes no sense at all. It's not going to raise. It makes sense at any point in it.
But I have, listen, Rod's workspace, whatever. Natalie professional model is at this modeling gig that's in a one hour photo place where you get your passports taken according to the sign outside of it. Amazing location of the same closet dude. She wants outside of me.
She wants outside of me. They had printed out. She's now the Victoria Secret model. And I'm excited.
Yeah. Bro, and I love how like the plot descriptors in the shots, like this movie is way more fun to talk about than watch because it was so fucking painful to watch. Like this is, this is a crowd movie, not a solo movie. Yeah, I'm sure they can never.
But I just love that to get them to explain like where they are without any dialogue. They just printed out on basically like letterhead, you know, like eight and a half and by 11, you know, printer paper like where they are. Yeah. It says like models USA or whatever behind the woman who's like, hello, you are now a Victoria Secret model.
That's the actor and the whole thing. She was a great secretary. She nailed those lines. Amazing.
But the flip is that that agent could not be less excited to be delivering the news that one of her clients is now a Victoria Secret model, especially when compared to Whitney. Sure. Should she be making shallots leaving the news? Yeah.
If you're the, especially if she's getting the model that's at the one hour photo, like she's going to make bang. That's insane. That's amazing. So, but here's the part where I say that I think this is the biggest evidence of the dialogue is like a language to English translation because Rod calls Natalie to go on the date and he says a sentence that no human in real life has ever uttered where they talk about both of their great days at work and he goes, so how about a dinner to celebrate success?
Yes. Oh my God. It's like that's not no human on this planet has ever uttered those words in that corner before they go on the date. With their date, Natalie and her most in foot.
But on the date you're missing the fact that on the date she goes, what do you want to do with your life? Do you want to have a family of kids and he goes, wow, that's all. I guess this is going a lot faster than I expect. Or like he said something insane like it's supposed to be quippy, I guess.
Yeah. And then they had going so straight. Now I got to say this is the best part of the movie and this is going to say, okay, context people. This movie was made in 2009.
Okay. That's not for Matt and Kyle. This is for listeners. I want to color what I'm about to say.
I met my wife in 2009. So when the female lead takes off her clothes and she's wearing what was the most popular brand of underpants, that style, that cheeky style in 2009, I felt very nostalgic and I was like, okay, you know what? I can live with the fact that this movie is so bad just because it reminds me of 2009 when my wife and I first started dating and I got to see her in underpants for the first time. Yeah.
Yeah. Well, you just have to find those silver linings, Scott, when you actually bright blue. Okay. I'm like blue lines, panty linings when you watch these moments.
Well, we're just connecting ground yourself. We're still probably 30 minutes into this movie, right? So after there, I don't know if you've not known, there's no birds yet. There's no birds yet.
We've still been mentioned. The birds show up after they have sex. I think that there's a reason why I don't know. We're still stuck on the anger woman's headroom.
I know there's no birds. So Natalie, Natalie goes and tells her mom about their date and it goes on forever. And it's an insane conversation where nothing is important, but I just want to call it out because boy, is it crazy. Natalie's best friend just happens to be dating Rod's coworker and they agree to her.
But everybody was going to double dates to see an inconvenient truth, the Al Gore global warming documentary. Yeah, sexy as hell. Oh my God. We're talking about hand jobs.
Maybe they maybe you got one in this theater. I don't know. Nothing like a good job. So 40 minutes in the movie, they find a dead bird on the beach and this is supposedly foreshadowing.
The most important thing in foreshadows is the top tier special effects that you're going to be experiencing later on in the movie is this clip art bird is laying in the ground. They go out for dinner and they are dancing awkwardly. Oh my God. That is so good.
I have the song memorized because it's just one lyric over and over again and it's hanging out. Hanging out. Hanging out with my family. Having ourselves a party.
And it just is that song. Those lyrics over and over for four minutes is they're just like green screen dancing in this room with lights around them. And it's awkward. The dancing is so awkward.
It seems like he said have fun with it and they thought it would be about 10 seconds long and instead he used the whole goddamn take of them having fun with it. But after that's me at weddings when Megan makes me dance by the way. Jug, why this shit you've ever seen? Well, but you know what?
Do you white it up more so that you can get it quicker? No, I'm trying to be genuine. No, no. I'm trying to basically like not die of embarrassment because that's why I learned how to play guitar.
So I wouldn't have to dance. I did not realize when I was a young boy that you're still going to have to learn how to dance. Listen, if you are young enough to learn how to dance. You should probably already know now.
No one cares what you're doing on the dance floor. Yeah. No one cares what you're doing on the dance floor. Just have fun.
It works. Unless you have a nightmare. Yeah. Yeah.
Everyone sees what you're doing in the pandemic. The dancing is so successful. They have a night of underwear kissing in a motel room. I mean, supposedly the guy who just created a multi-million dollar solar panel company doesn't have a house for them to go to.
They got to go to a CD motel to hook up and they awake to static images of eagles just dive bombing and blowing up shit outside. Yeah. How? How do they have fire breath and acid breath and that's for the sequels, baby.
Wait, hold on. Is it really? No, I can't remember. I watched sequel exactly one time and was like, I'm out.
No, it's just not. It's just not fun. They only sequels are there. So just the ones that are there.
There's two sequel. There's three there. There's three bird daggards. There's three bird daggards.
So Rod and Natalie meet up with some other folks at the hotel and they armed themselves with hangers that they swing at the birds to keep them at bay. And I just write down the scene of them swinging at the squawking but otherwise immobile birds with cuts to a hand struggling to turn the key into the lock is like accidental comedic gold for me. Thankfully, they get into the car and this car was packing heat, baby, because they have guns with unlimited bullets, unlimited bullets in these guns. They drive and they find two kids whose parents were killed by the birds.
And I love that at this point, they're trying to save the kids and he's firing at the birds and it keeps cutting to just a single shot of one bullet hitting a bird as it drops to the ground. And it's like, again, it's one of the circumstances where all the audio cuts out entirely for these shots and you just be like, every time, it's awful sound effects, but it just fills me with joy. They stop. They're so rigid.
Everything is so rigid. The mixing of the gunshots is so loud and repetitive. The squawking is so loud and repetitive. The squawking actually made me feel crazy.
Yeah. The squawking is insane. Same clip. It's the same sound clip.
And the first thing you should know if you're making a sound bed is not to use the same sound every time. In my case, this would be me in 2009. They could have found a free SFX library with at least three bird sounds. But no, they were literally like, this is the most single-minded, terrible thing I have ever seen.
Oh, yeah. This is not a good movie. I'm going to make this thing. There is the, I'm here.
There is the end goal. I will go to the end goal. There's no nuance. There's no skill.
There's no curiosity to be good at it. It's literally like, I want to make a movie. This is his third film. Like, that's fucked up.
That's the first thing. What's the guy's name? Is it the guy that? It is it Rod?
No, no. It's he has a small cameo as one of the people in a diner. I never know how to pronounce this name. It's Newen.
Newen. What is his nationality if he is not American? Is he Greek? Is he what?
No, he's Vietnamese. The sound of a grocery store that gets a prize. The deli has 10 perfectly newly wrapped cheese options for them. And the lone employee at this deli has had his eyeballs completely ripped out.
I love that for their very specific birds attacking people outside problem, they're like, let's have a picnic instead of eating inside the car. Like, let's go out into the open and enjoy these turkey sandwiches or whatever. If you've ever been to a beach picnic, they're not even killer birds. They're going to come after your turkey sandwich.
Right. They're going to eat outside for the seagulls, period. Like, I'm not like, I don't want them to bug me at all and they will. I'm not going outside.
So I wrote down this next note. They meet Dr. Jones at the picnic area. And I wrote, this actor might be the best actor in the whole movie.
The bar is low, but he still crosses it. And Dr. Jones gets the monologue about global warming and it's basically just giving you the thesis of the entire movie that we assume is like, the thing that sucks the most is that I don't disagree with what the message is, which is like, we got to stop the warming. We got to knock that shit off.
Right. Right now, but it's just the delivery of such message is problematic. Now is where the movie really picks up steam because we get to see people die by these birds. Finally, we found corpses of them, but Becky gets killed while trying to take a shit, which is hilarious to me.
And then, and then Ramsey is killed by what seems to be acid piss while attempting to save a bus full of people. There's a movie does keep you on your toes. Like, you think you know what's going to happen with these clip art birds and then it just really, really takes a left turn. But the best kill, right?
They're running on one gas. They find a gas station. The guy charges them a hundred bucks a gallon. A hundred bucks.
Yeah. So they get, they get their tanks filled. They go to help someone on the side of the road. He holds them up at gunpoint and takes their gas tank.
And as he's slowly walking away, out of nowhere, you just hear, and then this bird just flies by and he falls down from a slip throat. And then they rush away and don't even take the gas. And he's like, he dropped the gas. It's just left there.
That's a hundred. That's two hundred dollars worth of gas easily. Oh, I got this point. It's funny money, but you could have the gas.
Yeah. I was like, this is fucking insane. And then for the end of the movie, I just copied how the Wikipedia wrapped things up because it just gets so bonkers for less than minutes. But they go to a creek of water and they meet a hippie named Tom Hill who talks to them about the dangers of global warming.
We got to hit the message again real quick. They escape a forest fire full of poorly edited fires to a perfect forest. And they ultimately end up on a small beach where rod fishes for dinner. And as they prepare to eat the birds, where they prepare to eat their attack by birds, but then dubs appear and all the birds live in, leave, leave in peace.
And the film ends as Rod Natalie and the two children watch the birds fly off into the horizon. Things are better now. No explanation why, but things are okay, folks. Everything is good in town.
LA is saved. Yeah. But this is supposedly happening around the entire world at the same time, right? Like this is cataclysm.
Well, I also think that this is kind of where Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds fails a little bit because they play it as if it's happening everywhere, but it's not. You know what I mean? I mean, I, but the global scale in which Birdemic wants to talk about the birds attacking feels so singular. It feels so like just in a moment.
I also feel like the implication right is like throughout this entire movie, any chance that they get Rod is talking about his electric car. He's getting solar panels put on his house. He's starting a solar panel business. Yeah.
Like they're really hammering that down. It almost feels like the implication is that the birds are like, oh, these guys are all right. They're not causing the global warming. So we shall in fact spare them because like the same thing happens with the hippies.
Like I'm in the woods. They don't bother me. Like I'm just like living off the land. Everything's great.
I mean, you know, fish from the creek or whatever. Like it's almost like the implication is that the birds are only attacking people who were part of the problem of global warming. Sure. It's a film us.

We're also on Instagram and Blue Sky. Hear that Elon? Blue Sky. After I've treated my friends to BirdDemic, I would love to follow it up.
I'd love to follow it up with a movie that I think is on the same so bad it's good scale, but doesn't have nearly the amount of love and appreciation. I mean, it certainly doesn't in hard movie night, but the rest of the world barely talks about this movie. We're going to double feature this with serial insane clown killer also known as S.O. You know that would save the night and that would be such a Matt Kelly night, honestly, because you talked about, so it was me on the curtain.
I'm sorry, just one quick second here. Yeah, please. It was my on the curtain is that I tried to veto this because BirdDemic because it says 2010 on Wikipedia, but to be, it says 2011. And I was like, oh, Matt, you're going to have to wait till next year.
And I was like, you're only for a long and the inevitable. I'm like, I'm just kidding. So I was just fucking around and saying that he couldn't pick this one, but you've been threatening BirdDemic basically for 10 years. And so they that and serial insane clown killer feel like such in my brain, like such Matt Kelly, like you got to watch this movie with me kind of movies.
And that would be a great time. That is the thing this viewing while I still had fun watching this, which I know Scott did not. This was probably the first time I've ever watched BirdDemic by myself. So it was definitely the least fun watching of BirdDemic I've ever had like when you're watching like 10 people and everyone's losing their goddamn mind at what they're watching, it definitely makes it more fun.
I mean, I guess we can mention this here, Kyle, but we're going to be doing a thing for skater dye this year in October at a bare minimum Kyle and I are hopefully Scott's able to make it out to the Philadelphia area as well. We're still working out all the details. And I actually messaged Kyle and was like, do we have, have we been assigned a movie yet? Because I would much rather us do something like BirdDemic where it's like, that is just going to be a crowd pleaser, even if we don't say a goddamn word into the microphone.
Yeah. Like people are just going to be like, mine's blown by how bad it is. So we have to, we, I have no, I don't think we're going to be watching BirdDemic. I don't know.
I'm not going to see any if we're doing BirdDemic. But I would love to do like a serial and saying clown, like, like one of the movie that's like a deep cut people, like exposing people to a new kind of bad movie, but also that the movie is bad enough that like it's not on our shoulders for 90 straight minutes to be funny because the movie is also being funny by just existing. Yeah. So like St.
Clankiller is the movie for that event. Yeah. I wrote about that movie. So before, before movie night, I might outlet before letter box before all this stuff was just a wordpress blog that I had called the leftovers.
Oh, yes. The leftovers. Yeah. The leftovers.
And what I did was I would, it would be the movies that I bought and hadn't watched and I would use that as an excuse to watch them because I would sort of like, you know, interact with them more, right? Like so I write a little blog post about it. I remember watching sick and hating it and then inevitably getting rid of the DVD and I wish, I wish, we talked about it so much now. I wish I still had it.
I wish I still had it. I would love, and you know me, I love trash. You know what I mean? Like I got great news.
Without me doing research at all, it's probably available use for about $2 on Amazon as I speak. We know doubt about it. No doubt about it. That is not a movie that has a high price tag.
No, I can come, I can come buy it again fairly, fairly easy. It's just one of those things where I just like, why was that? Why was that the hill I died on to get rid of that movie? I think every convention we've gone to while I've looked at tables to see people selling DVDs to everybody.
Oh, no. All right. $18 plus $5 delivery. Okay.
No, okay. No, I'll keep my eyes out though. I'll keep my eyes out though. I do.
I do. I do. I do. It's a VHSs.
No, that might be fine. No, no, no. No, no. $18 plus $4.47 delivered for the DVD and $15.48 or Best Offer plus $5 shipping or free shipping.
There are two different ones for the VHS. Man, dude, I- Maybe eBay. I'm on eBay. Where you think I'll go?
Okay. All right. Anyway, anyway, that sick, great to meet you. We're off the part of the table.
We're off the part of the table feature. That seems like the most, the correct one but Scott, what do you, what do you've got going on? I'm just going to go with another eco terror movie. I'm gonna go with prophecy because the sleeping bag scene is just iconic.
Yeah, very nice, very nice. And we've talked about the love that we have for this movie, but I do think that sometimes the approach feels comparable. I'm gonna go mutilator too. Which is gonna be by the time this episode comes out, that shit's gonna be streaming in September, baby.
I was just going to say that. Yeah, it's gonna be coming out here soon. And I think I watched the end. You can finally watch the kills that we've been raving about.
It is, and that is just, we're talking about it so bad, it's good, but we're also talking about the intention of, you know, we didn't touch on it a lot here, but we're talking about the intention of making a movie. And I think that making a movie is not easy. No. And I think the mutilator was able to make one once and then make the mutilator too, and a different having to approach the world differently.
I think that maybe the charm of that is comparable to Birdemic. That's a kind of way to put it, Kyle. But anyway, you know, if you want to know our feelings on all types of movies, find us on our socials, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Letterbox. We're all HM and podcast.

You all check out. I'll keep this one short, but the second season of Poker Face on Peacock was just as delightful as the first season. Love myself some Natasha León doing her own version of Colombo. Just a fun, goofy, weird show.
Love the way that it's done. Like I said, it's done in the style of Colombo where you see the murder happen and then you jump back in time and see how Natasha León's character is part of that murder and how she figures out who committed it. It's a good little fun, goofy 45 minute show from Rain Johnson who did movies that I love like Brick in the Last Jedi and a couple others that I'm blanking on. Brothers Bloom, I remember being good.
Yeah, just watch it. That was amazing. Fantastic. Hulk Hogan's dead.
That's fine. That's news. It's late news now. And so I'm not bringing this up because I can watch this to celebrate the life and legacy of Hulk Hogan.
I actually bought this two weeks before he died, but at the used DVD store that I go to, they had three ninjas, High Noon at Mega Mountain, which has actually been on my Patreon watch just for a while. It is the fourth and final entry to the three ninjas saga for all my 90s children. I loved the three ninjas movies and I don't know why because I couldn't, I can't tell you, you know, really, really, really. Because in the 90s, Karate was the shit.
Yeah, martial arts was martial arts ruled. Hulk Hogan was there. You know, so I watched, I watched High Noon at Mega Mountain and I don't know. I think it's just like, sometimes, you know, when we talk about things, when we talk about nostalgic things, sometimes they have a certain amount of gravitas, right?
Like sometimes they bring up a certain feeling and a certain just like, you know, vibe and they have something that really, really speaks to us and to our soul. And then other times, there is something that is so blatantly just surface level aesthetic to that same period of time that we have a connection to that it is nice to just be like, it's like smelling a flower and walking away and watching three ninjas, High Noon at Mega Mountain was smelling a flower and walking away to me. Like I don't remember the move, I know that it existed, I didn't remember the movie, I knew the three ninjas existed, I didn't really remember this, like them in this iteration, because this is also different children than the original three ninjas. Like it's not even, it doesn't matter.
It's like watching the sixth or seventh installment of Power Rangers when you grew up with the first, it just has that energy. I watched it, it was fun, never going to return to it again, but I just wanted to bring it up because it is something that I watched and Scott, what do you got going on? Bring her back. Bring her fucking back.
You guys have now watched it. You, what did you, remind me you're, I said, don't eat before ordering. It is so, so gross. I mean, it's like, it's great.
I mean, like it's better than talk to me. I did not particularly like talk to me because as I said last week, I don't particularly enjoy media where every character is unlikable and is a shithead because I don't revel in their deaths. I need to be able to empathize with the people that are dying. So bring her back is, I think, a much better, super brutal, gory possession film.
And it is, it's cool. It's very, very bleak. I probably won't ever watch it again, but it's very well acted, very well produced. It looks great.
And it surprisingly has a more upbeat ending than talk to me. Yeah, like I told the guys in the chat a couple weeks ago when I watched it, you do not want to eat before hand ordering. And you're probably going to want to take a little walk afterwards to clear your head because some of those images are just, your teeth are going to hurt after you watch this movie. But it's great.
Yeah. Oh, that's good. I think that like I do want to partake. And I enjoyed my distance from and then entry into talk to me because I like gave it a little bit of great time.
Yeah. And it's like, and I heard Sally Hawkins is great. I love like really solid performance, right? Like I, that is driving me to want to watch it more.
But yeah, knowing that it's a little, a little gnarly and a little hardcore is giving me just a little more pause. I'll wait until I'm cooped up for the winter and maybe settle down and watch it. Nice. The humidity gets to me.
You could probably enjoy it in like on a gloomy November day. I think that'd be really good. Right on. Well, you know what you can enjoy on a gloomy November day as well as hard movie night with our extensive back catalog of over 500 episodes.
