Birthing in Uncertain Times

from SIS Empowerment Podcast · host SiS NSpirit

Pregnancy and birth don’t stop during a pandemic. Preparing for a new baby during this time adds an extra degree of stress to an already challenging environment.  While birthing plans may have to change, and hospital rules are shifting about who can be present for support and delivery, this crisis gives us the opportunity to re-look at alternative birth methods that either don’t involve going to the hospital or limit time in the hospital.   The disparities and shortcomings of healthcare system are also being highlighted during this pandemic. As a result of all of this, midwives and doulas are seeing increased interest in birthing at home.   We also get to look at how technology can be used for a more comforting pre, during, and post-birthing experience to minimize stress on both mother and child. Our guest, Haize Hawke Rosen, is a healer and ceremonialist who currently practices as a Birth and Postpartum Doula, Child Birth Educator, and Peer Lactation Consultant.  Join us as she discusses holistic pregnancy and birth during the pandemic, and addresses women's health.
