Plotseling verstuurden de Twitteraccounts van Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Joe Biden, Apple en Uber op grote schaal valse Bitcoin advertenties. In de tweets werd aangegeven dat de beroemdheden en bedrijven graag iets terug zouden willen doen voor de maatschappij vanwege de COVID-19 crisis. Twittergebruikers werden vervolgens aangemoedigd om Bitcoins te kopen die zogenaamd zouden worden verdubbeld voor het goede doel.
