Bitter or Better
from L.I.V.E. Life Inspired Views for Everyday · host Kris Meyer
Send us Fan MailMany years ago, my husband Donnie and I sang songs together recorded by Steve and Annie Chapman. One of the songs they recorded was entitled, Two Children. It was a true story about two children abused by their father. They are described in the lyrics as "one who lives in peace, out in Ohio, the other one was bitter till the day she died." I was so struck by the difference between them because of that one word, "bitter." The song ends by explaining that the brother was able to forgive their father, but the sister "was bitter till the day she died."That song made such an imprint on me and because of it, I made a decision to choose to live my life free from bitterness. Oh, there have been times it festered in me for a while, but eventually I decided to let the anger or resentment go. The tool is forgiveness. It's always a choice. Thanks for listening.
