This week, Kiyel Williams posted an emotional appeal on the Instagram account he shares with his twin brother Kamar — one half of the popular 80KTwins duo based in Atlanta. Kamar had been missing for nearly 48 hours. Millions of people shared the post. Kamar has been found safe, stepping away to focus on his mental health and now connecting with professional support.What worked for Kamar — a massive platform, a brother who knew how to reach millions of people, a story visible enough to cut through — is exactly what most missing Black Americans don't have.In 2023, 563,389 people were reported missing in the United States. Forty percent were people of color. African Americans make up only 13 percent of the U.S. population.
