Melvin is a Navy veteran. After completing his time, he went on to earn a degree in media arts and become a community journalist, at-risk youth adviser, filmmaker, and radio producer, all in San Diego, California. Melvin entered the Los Angeles film industry, producing and editing short films, web series, and acting reels. Today, Melvin owns the production company Render Squad Industries. One of Melvin's most recent projects is a documentary series called ‘Black Business LA’ releasing  December 2022 on Amazon Prime. In this film, he interviews  black business owners in the community and addresses some of the plights that plague the black community. He features over 38 businesses along with other community leaders and historical figures in his film.  Melvin  took a chance on this film series because he saw the importance of introducing more business and financial literacy into the community. He provides us with three tips for, not just  aspiring filmmakers but anyone who wants to create something:Develop a team of knowledgeable, trustworthy people.Develop a sound plan Accept criticism If you are an aspiring filmmaker or entrepreneur this is the episode for you. Watch “Black Businesses LA” on Amazon Prime.
