Today's texts come from select verses in Exodus 21.1-27, Deut 23.15-16, and Eph 6.5-9 as we unpack Black, Christian, & Proud, Part 3. What does the Bible say about slavery? Let's find out. Blessings!Europeans and Americans painted their images of God according to THEIR view. Very clever marketing. Let’s examine three observations or points found in the Bible regarding slavery.1. Slavery was for a set amount of TIME. Exodus 21:1-2, no more than 6 years was the law.2. Slavery was a punishment for THEFT. Exodus 22: 2-43. Taking slaves by FORCE was punishable by death. Exodus 21:164. Harsh beatings of slaves were PROHIBITED. Exodus 21:20.5. Slaves injured by their owners were supposed to be set FREE. Exodus 21: 26-276. RUNAWAY slaves were to remain free. Deut. 23:15-167. The NT reinforces the concept of a BONDSERVANT. Eph.6: 5-9. Servants were to serve diligently, and masters would suffer at the hands of God for MISTREATING servants!8. Bottom-line: AMERICA'S form of SLAVERY was UNBIBLICAL and EVIL! The BIBLE was clearly taken out of context! According to the BIBLE, the European and American slave owners deserved to be punished.The history of this country supported the false notions of white supremacy and capitalism at any and all costs. If you make a man FEEL or BELIEVE that HE/SHE is INFERIOR it will not be hard to get him to accept and even seek it. However, God's greatest creation is YOU!!!The whitewashing of the history of black, brown, and indigenous people will keep people from knowing the truth. We must unlearn the false narratives that have been taught and relearn the TRUTH of God’s Word and world history. God loves ALL people groups!!!
