Black Law - The Rise of African-American Sheriffs

Black Law! For Centuries African-Americans have been living under the discriminating thumb of White Law. White racist law! Across this country black men, women, and children have been subjected to slave law, white mans law, Jim Crow law, Bull Conner Law, U.S. Justice Dept. Law, BOY Law, Central Park 5 Law, and because I have a badge law. In each of these cases, the law has not favored people of color by any stretch of the imagination. And even when it seems as if the scales of justice are beginning to lean in that direction, their is an immediate correction to remind us that the law is not our friend.   But, this past November there is another glimmer of hope, at least in a few states and counties. In North Carolina, there were eight glimmers released by the Southern God's. He opened the windows of North Carolina, and poured out blessings that overflowed onto eight counties across the state: Durhan, Wake, Guilford, Pitt, Mecklenburg, Cumberland, Buncombe, and Forsyte, where each of them for the first time elected an African-American as their chief law enforcement office. They've changed white law into BLACK LAW. Tonight we speak with two of those newly elected sheriff's and discuss their new positions, and their vision for their respective counties.
