Black Love or War? How racism hinders Black dating and relationships and Divorce amongst Christians

Slavery and racism historically prevented and disrupted Black marital unions and continues to plague the Black community and Black relationships today. In the aftermath of slavery, the states denounced courtship and marital arrangements that American Africans devised during slavery and presented Christian heterosexual marriage as a gateway to responsible citizenship, targeting men of color to be social patristical provider and women of color to be subordinate helpmates. Enter now policies that worked against people of color men and women. It would be these policies that would create an unprecedented displacement of Black families with men being forced to leave their homes to ensure financial stability.   Now for Christians, people have analyzed what the Bible is really telling us and how to interpret it. Many hold tightly to the claim that God’s view on divorce is that it is a sin. Anxiety can trigger depression and other behavioral, physical, and mental health issues.
