Bless Instead of Repaying: 1 Peter 3:8-12: Day 13

Christ changes the way we respond to people who hurt us.Peter turns from marriage to the broader Christian community and gives a picture of what life together should look like. Believers are called to unity, sympathy, brotherly love, compassion, and humility. And then comes the difficult command: when someone does evil against you, don't repay evil with evil. Instead, bless. That doesn't mean pretending wrong didn't happen or refusing to seek justice. It means refusing to become like the person who hurt you. Because we have received mercy from Christ, we are free to extend mercy to others.Reflection: Where do you need to surrender the desire for retaliation and trust God with justice?
