Psalm 103:1-5 As David lists the Lord’s benefits in Psalm 103, one of the most important is the fact that “He redeems our life from the pit.” The two main pits that the Lord delivers us from are the pits of death and hell. Being redeemed from these pits by the precious blood of Jesus sets us free from the bondage and penalties of sin and gives us eternal life. How wonderful it is to be freed from being stuck in the circular self-destructiveness of living in the pit of sin and have the ability to move on through life in a positive and creative way! There are many other pits in life that the Lord desires to deliver us from as well. Any time we find ourselves in situations that have us helplessly trapped, we should remember that the Lord we serve loves to help us out of our pits, be they situational, relational, emotional, economic, health-related, or whatever other form they may take.
