Blessed Is The Guest

from Lane Brown @ Chandler Street Hosted by Lane Brown

We often think following Jesus means asking, “What can I do for someone else?” But what if God is also asking us to become humble enough to receive? In Luke 10, Jesus sends His disciples into homes where they must sit at someone else’s table, accept hospitality, listen, stay awhile, and then serve. Elijah discovers the same thing when God sends him to a widow in Zarephath who seems to have almost nothing to give. This sermon explores a challenging truth: sometimes God sends us because someone needs what He has given us, and sometimes He sends us because He has already placed something there that we need. In a busy world, maybe one of the most Christlike things we can do is slow down, enter someone’s life, hear their story, share their table, and linger long enough to actually know them.
