It's our natural state to yearn for happiness. Jesus starts his Sermon on the Mount by flipping the script and showing how citizens of the Kingdom of God are counter-cultural. He begins with a list of character traits that seem contradictory to what His disciples expected; yet each one is aligned with a benefit of our faith in Him.
