Good morning! I'm DJ Huzz. And welcome to the Maine Weather Podcast. It's Tuesday, February 24th. Folks, you woke up to an inch and a half of fresh snow.. And wind that's trying to rearrange your recycling bins. Temperatures are sitting around 22 degrees. The snow's done, but blowing snow is cutting visibility, especially along the coast. Today's your breather before the next round hits. Let's take a drive. Down in Portland, you'll hit 30 degrees around 3 P.M. Winds shift northwest to west by 7 A.M., gusting to 30 miles an hour before easing this afternoon. Tonight drops to 10 degrees by 4 A.M. With gusts to 15 around 5 A.M. Step outside tomorrow morning and it'll feel like 5 degrees. Push inland to Augusta. High of 29 degrees around 3 P.M. Tonight plunges to 7 degrees by 4 A.M. Winds shift around midnight with gusts to 15 miles an hour near 5 A.M. Up in Bangor, you're hitting 30 degrees around 2 P.M. Then the bottom drops out. Three degrees by 4 A.M. Winds shift by 9 P.M., gusting to 15 around 5 A.M. Downeast stays dry today. High of 32 degrees around 3 P.M., lows near 7 by 5 A.M. Gusts to 18 miles an hour. Now the cold spots. The Western Mountains top out at just 15 degrees around 2 P.M. By 4 A.M. You're at minus 3. Wind chills hit minus 9 around 11 P.M. Brutal. The County reaches 26 degrees by 2 P.M., dropping to minus 1 by 5 A.M. Winds shift by 9 P.M., gusting to 16 around 5 A.M. Wind chill that'll freeze your eyelashes. Looking ahead.. Wednesday brings snow back, especially Downeast and Midcoast. One to four inches with messy travel. Thursday gives you partly sunny skies and 37 degrees. Friday cools slightly. Saturday's the gem. Highs flirting with 40 degrees. Then Sunday.. Arctic air crashes back in. Single digit highs up north. Wind chills diving to minus 20. That's the kind of cold that kills car batteries.
