Blizzard Warning | Maine Weather 6 PM

from The Maine Weather Podcast

Good evening, folks! I'm DJ Huzz. And this is the Maine Weather Podcast for Monday, February 23rd. If you're listening to this, you survived the nor'easter. Or you're still in the thick of it. Either way.. Respect. This storm is a beast. Downeast is taking the hardest hit right now. Another 4 to 8 inches still coming, with gusts to 45 miles an hour. Visibility near zero at times. That's not a snowstorm. That's a wall of white. If you're anywhere between Bar Harbor and Machias, you'll want to stay put tonight. Slide down the coast to Portland and you're seeing another 2 to 4 inches pile up before this thing finally quits. Gusts hitting 45 miles an hour there too. Enough to rearrange your patio furniture. Lows tonight drop to 17 degrees, but wind chill makes it feel like 5. Your face will know the difference. Over in Augusta and Waterville, similar story. Two to 4 more inches. Gusts to 40. Travel is ugly right now. Bangor? The storm is flexing hardest here. Three to 5 more inches with gusts to 40. Roads are a mess. Stay home if you can. Now the western mountains are catching a break. Under an inch of new snow. But lows tonight crater to 10 degrees. Sugarloaf skiers, that's wicked cold even for you. Up in The County, 1 to 3 inches and lows around 15. Tuesday is your reward. Sunshine returns. Highs climb near 30 degrees. Dig out, breathe, maybe admire what the plow driver left at the end of your driveway. Then Wednesday.. Round two. One to 4 inches statewide. Not as nasty, but enough to keep things interesting. Thursday dries out with highs in the upper 30s. Friday's a wildcard. Models can't agree. Could miss us entirely or clip us with light snow. The weekend warms into the 40s Saturday before cold crashes back Sunday. I'll be tracking this all night. Charge your phones and keep those flashlights handy. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
