Blizzard Warning | New Hampshire Weather Noon
from The New Hampshire Weather Podcast
Good afternoon! I'm Aaron Jolly. Welcome to the New Hampshire Weather Podcast for Monday, February 23rd. Folks, this is a big one. A nor'easter is tightening its grip on the state right now. We already have over an inch on the ground.. And the real punch hasn't landed yet. Coastal Rockingham County is ground zero. Blizzard warnings run until 10 P.M. Tonight. You're looking at 8 to 14 inches of snow. Gusts to 50 miles an hour. Whiteout conditions. This isn't a "drive slow" storm. This is a "stay home" storm. Here's the timing. Snow ramps up hard by 11 A.M. And peaks around noon. By 3 P.M., you'll hit your high near 30 degrees. Then temperatures nosedive into the teens overnight. Wind flips northwest by evening. And by Tuesday morning? Wind chills near 2 degrees. The kind of cold that stings your lungs. Now push inland toward Manchester and Concord. You're catching 3 to 7 inches with near blizzard conditions in spots. Not as brutal as the coast, but plenty dangerous on the roads. Up in the White Mountains, a lighter 2 to 4 inches. Gusty winds will kick that snow around, though. One more critical piece. The afternoon high tide brings a storm surge of 1 to 2 feet along the Seacoast. Waves running 10 to 15 feet. If you've got a vehicle parked near the water, move it to higher ground now. Beaches will take a beating. Looking at the week ahead, Tuesday brings sunshine but brutal cold. Highs near 29 degrees, lows dropping to 6. Wednesday sneaks in another 1 to 3 inches of snow. Then something shifts. Temperatures start climbing. And by Saturday you're seeing mid 40s. Almost feels like a reward for surviving today. If you've to travel, pack an emergency kit. Check newengland511.org for road conditions. I'll be tracking this storm all night. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
