Blockchain Bytes Ep. 1: Bubba Cook

from Blockchain Bytes · host Blockchain Forums

NZ Blockchain Forums co-founder Gautam Paul talks to Bubba Cook, Western and Central Pacific Tuna Programme Manager for WWF out of Suva and New Zealand, about his steadfast focus on improving tuna fisheries management across the Pacific. Bubba's ethical values run deep, working in the best interests of our oceans and fisheries, enthusiastically supporting the development of technology solutions for difficult fisheries challenges, including the use of blockchain for traceability of seafood. In 2017 Bubba initiated one of the first seafood traceability pilots using blockchain in a Pacific longline tuna fishery. A key component of that is verifying and validating the products impacting our natural resources through robust and reliable traceability tools. Giving retail markets the tools they need to secure their reputation and minimize the risk of supporting unsustainable or unethical practices.
