Substantial seizures from Bitfinex hackers contribute to the government’s growing stockpile. Edward Snowden anticipates significant government involvement in the Bitcoin market. Through a series of seizures and asset forfeitures, the federal government has amassed enough Bitcoin to rank among the largest whales in the market. This follows a similar incident less than a week ago where users saw $0 balances. Despite assurances that funds were safe and trading unaffected, concerns arose as some users again reported zero balances.
