«Blood Sugar Sex Magik», la receta de Red Hot Chili Peppers

El rock alternativo de los años 90 nació con “Blood Sugar Sex Magik”, el quinto álbum de los Red Hot Chili Peppers, publicado en septiembre de 1991. Con ayuda del productor Rick Rubin, que aportó consejos para mejorar el sonido y las letras de la banda, los Red Hot grabaron el álbum en la mansión del mago Houdini. Durante un mes, tanto el vocalista Anthony Kiedis como el guitarrista John Frusciante apenas salieron de su habitación. A John Frusciante le costó adaptarse de nuevo a la vida de gira, durante la cual anunció su intención de dejar los Red Hot Chili Peppers en mayo de 1992. Para entonces, “Blood Sex Sugar Magik” había llegado a la categoría de Disco de Platino, alcanzado el #3 en las listas americanas, y sus ventas subían como la espuma, superando las 13 millones de copias vendidas en todo el mundo.
