Yo, what's up people? I'm your host Jay Will and I would like to welcome you to inspire guys people where we balance faith and business to guide you to your purpose. This is episode 224, bloodline legacy. We're going to discuss the power of investing and how to act once you make it.
Yeah, nobody don't ever really tell you like, what do I do once I'm successful? So I like to spend a lot of time talking about living in success. I really feel like we put a lot of our energy towards like the climb, you know what I'm saying? How to get to success and a lot of the information out there that people talk about is about that journey, how to like go from the mud and get it in and all that's cool.
There's like when I get here, then what? Like, what do I do now? And I think it's important, especially as Christians and believers, to understand like how does the Lord want us to live within our success? What is the value of legacy?
So we're going to discuss all of that today. I appreciate you rocking with me, man. It's been a few weeks since we did a show. So let's jump right into it.
Bloodline legacy. Well, first and foremost is why would I even want to have a legacy, right? We got all these words that's thrown around in today's society where a lot of times I don't know if we even like taking the time to think for ourselves or like, what does this actually mean for me? And this time I spent some time thinking about it's like, all right, what's the value of a legacy and in particular, what's a bloodline legacy?
So let's think about it. First things first, legacy is really about aligning with purpose. You know, when you think about leaving a legacy or just the terminology or the idea of leaving a legacy, there has to be something purposeful that someone is leaving behind first and foremost. So that tells me in my life, like, I guess I can't be a loser that just gets up and just wings it.
Like, I guess I can't live like, ah, nothing matters, whatever. What's the point? So I like legacy first and foremost because it allows me to align on something of like of purpose that I want to leave behind something that's worth leaving behind. That's what I think about when I think about legacy because let's be real.
If somebody left you behind something, like, let's say this mug, right? I leave you behind a mug, you know, you're my nephew, my niece, you're my family and it's like, oh, he left a mug. And then you're like, okay, this mug must be worth something, fam. And then you take it around, you know, you go to the pawn shop or wherever people take stuff to be appraised and you find out it's worth $2.45.
Yeah, that's not going to qualify as a legacy. So what does that mean? That means I have to live a life that creates value. That's the first thing I like about legacy personally is like it gives us purpose in life and let's be real.
A lot of people are walking around today and they either don't see value or see purpose for living in and of itself. But I love legacy because it allows you to kind of focus in on that. Like, I, cool legacy. So I got some value or I have to create value if there are no value exists.
That's cool. Now I'm not saying your life in and of itself ain't valuable. That's not what I'm talking about. But follow me.
We talk about like leaving something behind once your life is over. So we're not counting the life itself. We're talking about what do you create develop of value while you use the life? What do you use the life to do?
So it's like your life is valuable. I ain't here to tell you that you're life ain't valuable if you're just sitting around on the couch every day. You know, I mean, you're still valuable. But the problem is you're not creating value.
So what ends up happening is the only value you have is in the life that guy gave you and then that's over and it's just like, all right, poof, be gone. That's it, right? We all like this is over for us all at some point down the road. Let's just say a hundred years from now, right?
Because even if you were a baby that was born a day, you're going to live to be a hundred. For some of us, we're going to be a hundred and thirty, hundred and forty hundred and fifty. So this is go with that idea that everybody lives another hundred years because I don't want this to get dark or feel dark. We don't live another hundred years.
Cool. So what you're going to create, what you're going to develop. And then so now I got to create enough value that's worth leaving behind, right? So that's pretty dope.
So that gives you something to say, now I'm waking up every day thinking about legacy. Now here's the other thing I like about it. A bloodline legacy, it goes beyond you. So this is an unselfish way of living, right?
Because when you think about it like somebody could create a legacy, a first name legacy, right? You create a first name legacy and don't get me wrong because sometimes if we get all technical, you'll be like, oh, this is a person. I'm from their first name and that was a legacy. That ain't what I'm even if you got a first name legacy, you can create last name value.
You know what I'm saying? So Martin Luther, all right, there's multiple Martin Luther's. If I say Martin Luther King, oh, you took my email K last name on it, that last name provides some value. A lot of Michaels in the world, right?
But if I say Michael Jordan, I, you know who I'm talking about, right? So we talking about last name legacies, which create blood, which are bloodline legacies and the beauty of those is that it becomes bigger than the catalyst. So what does that mean? When you live a life tour thinking about developing and creating a bloodline last name legacy, it means you a person that's trying your best not to be selfish because anybody could be selfish, live it up, make whatever money they got, blow that money, buy all type of stuff that don't matter.
And then they pass away and they're like, well, I lived it up and it's all about life is, all right, cool. I ain't mad at you. I ain't saying don't enjoy this life. But at the end of the day, that's a first name legacy.
Once you gone, it's gone. Ooh, that's not once you're gone, it's gone. But a bloodline legacy is like, yo, you created so much value while you were alive that you can leave and it's still producing fruit. You realize how cold that is?
It's cold that you can live a life and develop so much value that people born after you in your bloodline can still cash those checks, right? And literally and figuratively cash those checks. What I mean is that you produce so much fruit that it outlived you. Think about it like, you know, I like the idea of a tree because we think about a family tree, right?
So I like the idea of thinking about this tree. You can have a tree, a life, right? That is a value but doesn't have any branches or leaves on it, right? And so it's like, all right.
You can have tree withers away once it's like, all right, that's it. But you could, you could create so much value that you got this huge tree with a bunch of branches and a bunch of leaves and then it produces fruit and then that fruit has seeds in it and you can like plant these seeds and then you could create a whole another tree. This is what I love about seeds because seeds have so much value. They don't give you the return that you deposited.
Like you don't withdraw what was just there. You actually read, I can talk. I can't talk people. You withdraw much more than you put in.
And to me, that's dope. Here's the other thing I want to think about when we think about a bloodline legacy. We got to understand the importance of legacy because in the world today, right? Let's make it, let's make it super practical.
For me, I grew up in a broken home, right? So I think you could be from a broken home and God can still use you. You still got value like nothing. I ain't putting no shade on people who are me.
Like, um, that's the life I live. I'm from a broken home. So I ain't talking about you. You know, all right, cool.
Let's think about a broken home though. Just because God works something out for his good doesn't mean that the thing he worked out is good. All right. Here's what I mean by that.
Broken homes is something that if you like me and you from a broken home like, yes, I'm like you have value. Don't don't feel diminished or anything, but don't go and create more broken homes. You get what I'm saying? Because broken homes are in an interesting way and attack on legacy, bloodline legacy.
I'm going to tell you how when you had these multiple generations of broken homes that we see sometimes, what ends up happening is when your home is broken, that's a part of your identity. That's broken. All right. Again, a lot of people don't talk about these type of things because it's challenging to talk about.
You get what I'm saying? You don't want to offend nobody like me. I want to offend none of my family members or whatever, but there's some, there's some identity crisis that happens within a broken home because what ends up happening is you start becoming detached from bloodline that ends up me. All right.
You put a bandaid on it and you patch it up, but then when you go and break it again, then it's like, well, what, what is this? What do I trace myself back to? What is my identity? Why do I act like this?
What, what were we good at? What were we bad at? The more you can break a home and break a person and break them away from legacy and bloodline, the less they are able sometimes to properly value and identify themselves. Most people want to know like, who am I like?
What am I about? Why do I act like this? I feel good if you like my grandma tell me all the time when she see me. You look just like your grandfather.
Like she like almost every time she sees me, she talks about him. Here's the thing. I never met him. I never met him.
And he passed away years ago when I was, uh, no, he probably passed away at least probably 20 years ago, but I never met the man. So what does that mean? I don't know nothing good or bad about him from from the bad end. It might have been things that he struggled with that I need to be aware of you get what I'm saying so that I can know what to watch out for.
Oh, my bloodline struggles with this. I might need to understand that so I could properly navigate life or yo, like we, we are good at this. There is value and understanding where you come from. Nothing wrong with making the best out of a broken home, but it's not something we should strive to do because at the end of the day, when you can't trace yourself, it's hard to have legacy when it's broken.
You get what I'm saying? Cause you don't know, like what the even, what am I even tracing it back to? Oh, I didn't know my father over here. Oh, I didn't know my, oh, okay.
I didn't know this person. Oh, I never met my grandfather. So it's like, even if there was value in the legacy, you can't even trace back to it to get it. All right.
I ain't gonna spend too much time on that. I might have fenced some people. I don't mean to be offensive on that. I believe the enemy's desire to break the home so that they sort of breaks the ability for us to trace back to legacy and even create legacy.
It's hard to create legacy within a broken home because it's like, all right, if you create legacy now for your bloodline, once that's broken, then it's hard for the fruit to continue to produce. You get what I'm saying? All right, cool. Let's move on to legacy in the Bible.
So this is actually pretty dope to me. When I think about legacy in the Bible, I don't know that we read the Bible a lot of times and think about the importance of legacy and bloodline legacy in particular, right? And right now, I'm just really making a point that we should be legacy minded people, that we should not be people who don't think beyond our own selves. Like, like some of us, we just live in selfish, we want to be rich because we want to waste money on luxury designer clothes that, you know, you want to pay $2,000 for a jacket that costs $47 to make it.
It's not even actually worth $2,000. I mean, I guess because that's what you value it at. That's what the markets will in the pay, but it's not like it costs $2,000 to make half of this stuff, right? It's just high margins.
So what's my point? Let's talk about legacy in the Bible. All right. What do I want to go to?
Ooh, Genesis 17. Let's go. I'm about to share my screen. Genesis 17.
Let me get to it first. What I say I was going to read. Oh, just one and two. Yeah, let's rock with that.
Where my screen at? I love getting into the word fam. Word be so dope. Share my screen.
Genesis 17. Here we go. Verse one and two. We talking about legacy in the Bible.
So this is about Abraham. Check this out. Verse one. When Abraham, so first his name was Abraham.
Like this, he kind of got a first name legacy. There you go. Abraham. Oh, we don't know his last name.
I'm going to tell you why. When Abraham was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, I am El Shaddai, God almighty. Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life. Verse two.
I will make a covenant with you by which I will guarantee to give you countless descendants. Bloodline legacy. God tells Abraham, yo, if you make a covenant with me, and he's saying this as he's 99 years old, so that's actually pretty dope. It's not too late for you to start or create or develop legacy, right?
If you make this covenant with me and you live this blameless life and live faithful towards me, this is God talking to Abraham, he says, I will give you countless descendants. Now, if there was no value in a bloodline, right, why would this even matter to Abraham? Well, part of it is because if you're going to give me countless descendants, that must mean you're going to give me children, right? So that must mean you're going to give me the first fruit, like to even have the multiple descendants, but because you're going to give me those countless descendants, that's also reflective of you're going to give me legacy.
You're going to make my life mean something more than me. That's what we really want. Come on, man. That's what we really want out of this life.
You can buy clothes, you can buy shoes. That stuff doesn't have any long-term value for real. You don't want to live a life so that you can so that somebody can go in your closet and say, all right, she gone. He gone.
He got 200 pair of shoes and everybody fight over your shoes. That's not that's not legacy. Legacy is a life of so much value that it produces fruit beyond your existence on earth. That's pretty fire to me.
All right. One more. Ooh, let's look at Matthew. This is pretty dope.
You. Chapter one is it one? Yeah. Oh, we bought it.
I love getting into the word, bro. Matthew chapter one. Let me get to it in my on this screen over here. Moving kind of slow.
Matthew chapter one. What did I say? Oh, this goes this go heavy. Let's get into it.
So now now let's check out the bloodline legacy. Jesus. This is pretty dope to me because if we look at the ancestors of Jesus, the Messiah, all right. So I'm still really just making the point right now that there's value in having a mindset, a legacy mindset to think beyond yourself, right.
Because I think a lot of times we're pushed to be selfish, but let's let's look into this. This is a record of ancestors of Jesus, the Messiah, a descendant of David, David and of what? Whoa, who, who, who, who Abraham Jesus, the Messiah, a descendant of David and Abraham. Now, if we look back at that verse that we just looked at with Abraham, then now we can understand the value that was created in that covenant that God made with him to give him countless descendants.
So much value that within this bloodline legacy, there is Jesus, the Messiah. So this is the importance of Abrams covenant with God, Abrams ability and desire to live a legacy mindset was so important that it became the bloodline of Jesus Christ. All right. I'm gonna just breeze through some of these.
Abraham was the father Isaac, Isaac was the father of Jacob, Jacob was the father of Judah and his brothers. Let's just go down. Let's just skip. Solomon was the father of real born, real born was the father of a beach.
I'll be John. I never said that before. I said, I said with the father, Jihosaphat, like, look at how this goes. Like Josiah was a father of Jiho-chinn, Jiho-chinn.
All right. Let's not just keep reading these biblical names. Jacob was the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Mary gave birth to Jesus who was called the Messiah.
Now verse 17, all those listed above include 14 generations from Abraham to David, 14 from David to the Babylonian exile and 14 from the Babylonian exile to the Messiah. Now this is how important it is for you to accept the call to live a life of the life of legacy is because what you're saying is that by living a life of a bloodline legacy, thinking bigger than myself, I am going to give God the opportunity to create someone to do his work that even that work might supersede mine as the catalyst or one of the early, you know, what do you, what do I want to say? I can't talk. I promise I could talk one of the early acceptors of the call, but you never know what God could do with your bloodline once you align with him.
So like it's a question, you know, are you willing to align your bloodline legacy with Jesus Christ? I want to say to the Lord, I want to live faithfully for you and do your will so that you can use not just the value that I have in my life, but use the value that I produce to do your work in your will to have a bloodline of believers, right? And this start meaning that now I'm praying beyond myself, right? Now I'm living beyond myself.
Now I'm thinking about setting up people beyond myself. And I think this is important because as believers, I think we have to see the world as bigger than ourselves. And I think one of the challenges in this world, like I even think about in Timothy, like how's it worth it? In the end times, men will be lovers of themselves, right?
Like lovers of themselves, like we could be so much into ourselves that we don't understand the value beyond ourselves. And that's why we tell people like, yeah, I get self love, self care, like definitely take care of yourself, but don't, you know, love yourself so much that you become a lover of yourself in the negative connotation. I couldn't get that word out. Some of us have kind of accepted this worldly mindset of, you know, self worship, right?
Like almost elevating yourself above God, elevating your needs and your wants above God in the quality he has on your life. And so there's this like, there's this version of self love that is kind of operating in the world today that I believe is ungodly. I don't even think it's the way God wants us to think about ourselves, right? Where you think you were above everyone.
We have to kind of learn how to balance things. And I get it, you know, it's so much information flying out there on the internet that we just grab it every real grabbing, grabbing every video that agrees with our thinking and we're no longer challenging ourselves based on the word of God. Remember, iron sharpens iron, right? That must, that must mean it takes some tension sometimes to get what God wants you to get.
It's not all fluffy. It's not all like, oh my God. I like this video. I'm just going to share it a thousand times.
No, sometimes it's the tension that creates value, tension that sharpens you, right? All this love fluffy stuff. I get it. You know, y'all want to, I don't know, man, it's just like to me, I want to become better.
I want to become who God called me to be. I don't want to just fluff, fluff my growth. Like I'm not with it. So what's my point with all of that?
My point is that there is value and legacy. And when you start thinking above yourself, beyond yourself rather than your life is going to have more value. So ain't that crazy like your life gains more value when you think beyond yourself. Like think about Abraham.
Like the moment he goes and covenant with God, right? Okay, buddy, now you're in the Bible. There you go. Now we're talking about you in correlation with Jesus.
We're connecting your covenant with the bloodline of Jesus. Like you started something right with that. You can start something just by accepting the card that God has on your life. You can start something amazing.
Something so beautiful that it can outlive you. That's really what life is about. We don't want to be forgotten. How do you how do you continue to have a remembrance?
Which is fine? Like the Bible talks about like remembering those. Oh, was it a lady? I don't want to miss quote the scripture, but there was this instance where.
I don't know if it was Jesus talking or not, but it was like, you know, remember her and the work that she's done. When I saw that, maybe I should look it up, but it was encouraging to me, right? Because we want our lives to have value. All right, cool.
So let's keep it moving. I want to talk about real quick the power of investing. So legacy is one thing, right? And one of the ways that I think about, you know, how to create value, how to, and now we can even think about like money because a lot of times what happens is people don't know where to start.
And I see this a lot with people when I'm trying to encourage people or talk to people inspiring whatever it is, I talk to a lot of people that don't know where to start. And so they never actually start. So whenever there's confusion in the beginning or maybe they just don't buy in, right? A lot of times what I'm doing on this podcast, I'm trying to convince you that there is value in you taking action on this information, right?
Not just talking about it. Like I don't really come on here just to talk about stuff. I'm talking about stuff so that we can take action on it, right? So one of the things I love talking about anybody that knows me is investing.
Mostly because from a personal standpoint, I wasn't really up on investment when I was younger. It wasn't something that you learned in a community where I'm from. They don't teach you that in school. One thing is when you pour, one of the challenges is the most important thing is just your next meal or the next holiday or the next thing you're trying to do.
And it ain't all about like the meal or like I got to eat. It's just that it's a short, what is it? A short distance, I guess I can't think of the word I'm looking for, but it's a short view on life. Like you see only what's right in front of you when you live in poverty.
And that's understandable from one perspective, right? But on the other end, what ends up happening is when you live in an cycle of poverty and you only can see a short distance ahead. All your decisions are about immediate things that you never actually can get out of that. That's why you see poverty kind of take place generation after generation after generation.
Like, okay, I'm poor. Then my kids pour. Then I'm my cousins pour. Then my auntie pour.
Like we see this. Nobody want to talk about it. I get it because it's like sensitivity. But I lived it.
So it's like I ain't trying to offend nobody. Like I was poor. Like it is what it is, right? But for me, it was like understanding like, well, how do I get out of this?
Most of us, the only way we know how to get out of it is work. What ends up happening with work is let's say I'm going to use $25 an hour. That's typically a good wage, you know, for most working individuals. Maybe it's more than that now.
I don't know. It's like $50,000 an hour. You feel pretty good about stuff. That's like 50,000 a year.
That's a little less than an average. So let's call it $30 an hour or $60,000 a year. The average last time I checked last year was about $54,000, $55,000. So okay, great.
If you can make $30 an hour, $60,000 a year, you are living a decent lifestyle, at least slightly above average, right? In this inflated environment, that's challenging. But what's the point that I'm making is at the end of the day, if you can make that much money, that becomes enough money to take care of maybe your immediate needs, but you're capped at that value. So most people see themselves, they're valued based on what they make per hour or per year, right?
So if you're making $60,000 a year, it may be very hard for you to see yourself as someone who can make $120,000 a year because maybe your skillset or you just never been exposed to like that kind of money. So it's like, oh my God, I went 20 a year. I can never ask for that. So this perception of value is so important in life.
What I love about investing is investing to me is a tool and a resource that's there to be utilized that everyone at least in America has access to, but we don't use it because we don't understand it, right? We don't understand how to multiply our value beyond our time. We can only see money as like, what can I work enough to make? I make such and such a year.
I make this. I make this so much pride in how much we make on our job because that's how we see our value. But with investing, investing has a lot of positive results or outcomes from investing. It teaches you discipline, delay gratification.
It's about education. So what am I saying, right? What I love about investing is let's just take a stock, right? A company.
Take any company. I don't know. Think of anything. You think of a company.
I typically like to start with, when I think about investing, start with companies that I'm a consumer of. I'm a corporate fashion line, favorite online store that I shop. I go look at their stock and I'm like, okay, I'm spending all my money as a consumer with this company. How do I look at owning this?
I'm a customer. It must be valuable, right? Then you start studying the company and you start realizing, wait a minute, I can own shares of this company. And if the company makes money, I can make money.
Here's the part we're afraid. We like that. Why people are afraid of losing money is because if the company loses money, they lose money. So investing, it really is you taking part in the risk.
It's you saying, hey, I'm going to take whatever the amount of risk you take is based on the amount you invest. So if you invest $100, you just $100 of risk in there. But remember I said we're so shortsighted in our thinking when we're poor. We are looking at that $100.
I can't $100. I was about to buy this body shoes or that is outfit to go here. The leg ratification. We don't know how to take something off the table to say this isn't more important than the potential of the long-term investment.
If you took that $100, you're afraid that you're going to lose it. But here's the thing. If you lost $100 from investing in five years, whatever you were going to buy with $100, it's worth nothing. So if you go past the shortsighted of like the immediate and allow yourself to see five years into the future, it's like you're not going to be wearing any shoes and five years.
These shoes going to be out of style. This outfit is going to be out of style. You ain't going to be out of style. You ain't going to be out of fit anymore.
Maybe because you lost weight or either you have kept eating extra biscuits with your meals. One way or another, you likely won't be the exact same size in five years. Although I hope you hope you are. That means you're really sustaining some level of good health.
If you're, yeah, let's not go down that road. I don't want to offend anyone. Listen, my point is this. If you can allow yourself to see past today and look five years into the future about the possibilities of what that $100 could become.
If you invest it, now let's be real. I'm saying $100 just to say something smart. $100 is not likely going to change your life off no investment. So this is just an example.
But maybe in five years, this $100 is worth $300. It's like, whoa, wait a minute. Wait a minute. We just grew 200%.
Right? Like we just took a hundred and we just took a hundred and made 300. And now that $100 that was going to be zero in five years has now gained value. This is the power of investing.
And if you can do this and you could learn and be educated, not just gamble your money away and throw money at different things. Like a lot of people want to do throw money at things they don't understand or because you heard me say it on the internet that you should invest in. He said he going to invest in this. No, that's not the way I view invest in.
I view investing is like something like really detailed that you really get into the education and understanding of what you're investing in. So you can believe in what you're investing in, right? You can have some type of passion around it or at least understand why you're putting your money in it. And then now you're taking risk and you understand you can lose money.
One of the first things people always say when investing is like don't invest nothing you can't lose. My argument is that you can lose the shoes. Some of the stuff that we're buying with our money is not that valuable to start off with. But we've allowed them to define us.
We got to stop letting these brands and these shoes define us and give you value. No, your value is you. And once you detach yourself from being valued by like designer brands as an example, then now you can take somebody that money you were really throwing out the window to those brands making those folks richer and you can start figuring out, well, how do I develop and grow some type of funding for myself to add to my work? Because now you're compounding.
You have your hours that you work, which is the only way that a lot of us, not everybody. I know some people are, you know, you all advanced out there these days, but some people still are stuck with only being able to understand value through their job. Now you start adding with that and then now you can build more long term. All right, let me see what's in the comments.
Marvette interested in investing started small and making a few coin. Okay, that's cool. Start and small is where you start. But I think how deep you want to get into it is really in my opinion about how much you want to be educated.
How much you want to dive into the education, which that part is very easy. I would just say use YouTube, like I YouTube literally every day. I'm YouTube and about financial literacy. I'm watching some video or getting some education or some market update.
They're depending on what your industry you're invested in. It's a lot of information out there. I literally study every day. Been doing this for years now as far as educate myself.
And the more I'm educating myself and investing, honestly, the more I understand the world, the more I understand the macro economy and how things actually work. And the more I become a contributor versus a consumer, because when you're a consumer, you're really blind to how all the pieces of the puzzle come together. All you care about is yourself and the money you make and the things you can buy with it. But when you become an investor, it's really about educating yourself on how things work.
It's about seeing where things are going, good and bad. That's one of the things investment has done with me or for me is when you think about artificial intelligence, which I've done some episodes about artificial intelligence. So check those out if you haven't. But the more I invest in the world of investing, I understand the good and bad of artificial intelligence.
I understand the different types of artificial intelligence. And there is some value, some good things that is a result of it, but there are some really scary and potentially dangerous things in our future. But again, being an investor, understanding the macro economy and what's coming and the climate, it also puts me in position to actually understand the world better. How does politics play a part in all of these things?
And so you start seeing these politicians and these political parties beyond just the commercials that they put or as they put on YouTube. So I love investing because of all of these things. But I want to tell you, I want to go to invest in the Bible real quick because I actually think this is the dopest part. I'm going to go to Ecclesiastes 11 and 1.
And I'm only doing this one scripture on this because when I talk about investing, I usually talk about Matthew 25, the parable of the talents, just because that's one of my favorites. But there are a lot of scriptures in the Bible that talk about investing. So we going to explore one of them right now. Ecclesiastes 11, chis up.
All right, the uncertainties of life, right? Send your grain across the seas and in time, profits will flock back to you. Okay, I love business. Business is in the Bible, people.
That's why this is a faith in business podcast. And that idea came from reading the Bible and seeing so many examples like these scriptures that really outline business and how we should be as business people. Verse two, but divide your investments among many places, for you do not know what risks might lie ahead. Ecclesiastes 11, 1 and 2.
All right. That's pretty fire. The Bible was literally telling you because life is uncertain, because you don't always know what's ahead, you should be putting your money in different places to try to create long term value to sustain you in the bad times or in the midst of uncertainty. Here's the thing that I love about investing.
It really aligns with the legacy mindset, which the theme of today is really thinking beyond today. Again, take advantage of the day, enjoy the day tomorrow isn't promised. We have to balance that, right? But we also have to live in a way where we're not just throwing things away for the day.
That's what we do. Some of us get a big check and we go out and we waste it on stuff that it will mean nothing. Again, stop allowing these brands to define you. We go and buy stuff and then we show it off to people because we think, Oh, look what I got, this means something.
And it's like that might be cool. I'm not telling you you can't wear brands or you can't buy stuff. I got certain things I like we are human. But when those things start being the foundation of your value, we used to literally start seeing yourself through the lens of what you're wearing and what brand you got on.
And to the point, you can't go around nobody. Oh my God. If I don't got on my Yeez, I can't even show up like bump all that. They just shoes like I'm telling you all right now, if you see me in a grocery store in some flip flops and some joggers with a hole in them, I still got value.
Now I'm going to be clean. I'm going to hit a shower, but you might catch me bumping one day. And that's okay. Because I'm human.
I'm not a robot. I'm not, you know, I'm not a celebrity. Like I feel like so many of us regular people want to be celebrity so bad is like you act like a celebrity and you don't even have to because again, you have this mindset of like short term. We're thinking long term.
So when you start thinking long term and you start thinking biblical about investing, it puts you in a position to make better decisions because when I'm thinking about tomorrow, I make a better decision today. Again, give me $1,000 if I'm only thinking about today. Okay, cool. I can go spend $1,000 in five minutes.
I can go find two pair of shoes. I won't and I can go buy whatever else, something new iPhone, whatever you can. We know how to spend $1,000. But if I tell you, take this $1,000 and turn it into $3,000.
How you going to do that? And that's thing. Long term is the goal in the key. Facts.
Now, the last thing I want to talk about is how to act once you're successful. But before I move on from investing, I do want to talk about some of the reasons why people are so afraid to invest. And it's very interesting to me. I made this post about cryptocurrencies in Bitcoin on Facebook this week.
Actually, let me pull up my Facebook on my phone. I'm going to read it because I actually thought it was, where is it at? Where is this showing that? Yo, I know somebody liked it.
Oh, here we go. I'm going to read this to y'all. I made this on Facebook. And this is about investing.
I've been studying cryptocurrencies in debt for the past four years. It is not a scam. Like many industries, it has bad actors who operate out of greed and pure evil. However, I've watched a wealthy and big corporations position themselves in crypto over the years.
Examples in the comments if you go to my Facebook page. At the same time, every non-wealthy person I ask about crypto, every is a stretch. Believe it's a scam because of the narrative. I'm sharing this because I believe that you must educate yourself outside of mainstream media in order to build wealth.
I'm not telling you to invest in crypto. I'm urging you to research for yourself. I think this may be the greatest opportunity to generate wealth in our lifetime. But I could be wrong.
This is not financial advice. So let me stress that. When I talk about this, this is not financial advice. I am not a crypto apologist or whatever.
I'm a person that's been studying this stuff that has learned many of the aspects. It's still developing so it's more to learn every day. And what I've come to realize when it comes to investing is when I talk to people, mainly either people who are poor or poor minded or came from poverty. What is up happening is we are so afraid of the unknown.
We're so afraid of the unknown. But look, if I go back to the scripture, I got to do it. Stop being afraid of the unknown. Why when it comes to investing, the Bible says, but divide your investments among many places where you do not know what risks might lie ahead.
You're fearful that you don't know what's happening. So you're going to invest when that's the reason why you should be investing. Like you should literally be investing because you don't know what's going to happen. So you should be having a mindset of like, I need, you know, I call them money trees.
I need to plan a seed of money over here. And we're talking about things you study. We talk about good ground. We're not talking about gambling.
I tell you to go place bets on basketball games or throw your money out the window. I'm saying things that you've taken the time to educate yourself on the research. It could be real estate. It could be it can be different things that you've learned investment strategies, right?
That you develop yourself and say, where you go get a financial advisor is like, Oh, I'm going to put a money tree over here. I'm going to plan a money tree over here. I'm going to plan a money tree over here. I got three money trees now, three different investments.
Now over time, I'm studying. I'm dollar cost averaging DCA. That just means you taking a little bit maybe it's every week, $10 a week each investment. Bam, bam, $30 next check, $30.
Oh man, I got a big check I wasn't expecting. Okay, $50 a piece. You look up and two years go by now you got three money trees and let's say though the investments themselves have increased 150% any and let's say on top of that you've been DCA. And so you've also just happened to put much more in there over time.
And now you have $3, $1,000 money trees, right? That's value that that allows you now to maybe do something that you felt like you were called to do like I feel called to do a YouTube channel and preach the gospel, but I could never afford a camera or a good enough cell phone to properly showcase a clear picture. I'm tired of trying to do a live stream on a flip phone. Okay, great.
Now you got three money trees. Now you can take from one of those trees and potentially invest in your calling. This is how you break the cycle. So that's just a little bit about investing.
Last thing I want to get into before I get out of here is how to act. How to act once you're successful. How to act once you make it. How to act once you got a couple dollars.
How to act once God has blessed you once God has set you free. How to act once you're healed. Let's just be real in this world. A lot of times when we down and out, we make promises and we just get out of this.
I'm a live so right. God I'm a dude. I told me to do if I just get out of this and we get out of it and we lose sight because we human, but I want to go to this last scripture and do it around me. What is it do it around me?
I think this is Moses. Okay, cool. I'm going to just share and I'm going to skim through a little bit of this and do it around me. Because I think it's important.
I think it's important to understand how the word of God addresses these things. A call to remember and obey. I love that. When you make it when you become successful, remember and obey.
Look what Moses said. Be careful to obey all the commands I'm giving you today. Then you will live and multiply. You enter and occupy the land of the Lord, sword to give your ancestors.
Remember how the Lord got your God led you through the wilderness for these 40 years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character and to find out whether or not you would obey his demands. Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a fool previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live off bread alone. Rather we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
Man don't live by bread alone. We quote that all the time, but I love understanding the context and what it was shared under the fact that you have to remember and obey God once you get where he was calling you to. All right, cool. Let's just scan through.
So obey the Lord, obey the commands of the Lord your God by walking in his ways. This is verse six, and fearing him, seven for the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land of flowing streams and pools of water with fountains and springs that gush out in the valleys and hills. Verse eight, it is a land of wheat and barley of grape vines, fig trees and pomegranates of olive oil and honey. Man, we be limiting even the promise land of just milking honey is grape vines and fig trees too.
It is a land where iron is his top common stone and copper is abundant in the heels. When you have eaten your field, be sure to praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. But look at verse 11, but that is the time to be careful. Beware that in your plenty, you do not forget the Lord your God and disobey his commands, regulations, and decrees that I'm giving you today.
For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in and when your flocks and herds have become very large and your silver and gold have multiplied along with everything else, be careful. Do not become proud at that time and forget the Lord your God who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt. Do not forget that he led you through the great and terrifying wilderness with its poisonous and snakes and scorpions where it was so hot and dry he gave you water from the rock. He fed you with manna, a food unknown.
He did this to humble you and test you for your own good. He did all this so you would never say to yourself, I've achieved this wealth with my own strength and energy. Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you the power to be successful in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors within oath.
But I assure you of this, if you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods worshiping and bowing down to them, you will certainly be destroyed. As the Lord has destroyed other nations in your path, you will also be destroyed if you refuse to obey the Lord your God. Whoo. Do the round of me chapter eight.
Listen, remember and obey. No matter how successful you become, it's not just you. God gave you the strength. He opened the doors.
God, Jesus was your nepotism. I know nepotism is a heavy buzz in word out there today. Like, Lord Jesus be my nepotism. That's my mind.
I say, like God, you are my father. I am your son. Like, nepotize me God. Baptize me and nepotize me.
Give me what you got for me. Remember, because I am your child that you have called to do the work that you have called me to do. I'm going to take that nepotism every time, Jesus. I'm going to take that salvation as a child of God.
Listen, man, it ain't just me. I don't care what kind of success you see me with, what kind of wealth I generate over time or wherever that this is what I what I love is that it's through Christ. That's what the scripture is talking about when they say I could be a bass or I could be a bass or I could be a bass or I could be a bass or I could be a bass or I could be a low. It's about a grace of God that we do what we do.
Why? Because God gave you the tools. He gave you your brain. He gave you the ability to learn.
Listen, you do all this work and yes, you should work hard and there is some sometimes for you to be recognized and celebrated for the work that you've done, but we have to remember and obey and honor God in all that we do. That is a bloodline legacy, a legacy where we leave behind not just money, not just things, but the lessons learned to obtain them so that they can be sustained so that your children and nephews and nieces and the generations behind you are entitled and so that they don't drift away from God and lose his favor and his calling on their lives so that they are sustained in living the life he called us to with his family structure in place, with his morals and values in place. As we honor God, he will bless us according to his will. But listen, man, wealth without God, that's not the way to go.
Wealth without God has no value. You be better off just living and being poor and loving God than to be wealthy without him, right? And I'm not telling you to go and be poor, but what I am telling you is that if we chase the money and we chase in things outside of the will of God, it can hurt us before it helps us, right? And so for me, it's like, yeah, I come from where I come from.
I'm ambitious. Goals, but I always try to read these Type of Scriptures to remind myself that this is bigger than me. It's not about me. It's about doing God's will.
It's about understanding the long-term impact of decisions and things that I do and getting better and growing from whoever I was, and however I was becoming who God called me to be. So I hope this blesses you. If it does, please subscribe to Inspire Guys people on YouTube, I do share a lot of daily clips, you know I'm saying.
