I love weight training, but the people in my life have a problem with it saying that I'm going to become to big. So my question might be a bit weird. How do I get my arms smaller? I have a tiny waist but 13 inch arms, I know it's a genetic thing, my brother and I train together and people are normally amazed at how easily we gain muscle. I don't have any other problems, and most of my body is quite lean. What can I do to loose weight in my arms before I go back home from university? Love your podcast, and listen every week here in South Africa. Enya Nel —————————————— Listener Question of the Day If you have a question you would like us to answer for you submit it on our website: www.newyorkmuscleradio.com/listenerquestion Question – Everybody keeps telling me to stop lifting heavy because it will effect my insides and will have trouble getting pregnant down the road? I know this is false but I want some hard evidence to throw back at these people. I am a female age 26 and healthy Thank you in advanced keep up the good work Danielle K ——————————————— Podcast Topic Ok guy we are back! Today we have an interesting topic Bloodwork for body composition and fitness We have on one of our clients Austin Marshall MPAS, CPAAPA, PA-C basically hes a lot smarter then us. Austin is going to give us the run down from a medical point of view. And we are going to even do a live case study using pete and myself actual blood work. Austin welcome to NYMR! Give the listeners a little more info about who you are and your experience with fitness and the medical side of fitness. How important is getting regular blood work done for fitness athletes, bodybuilders and anyone who wants to improve their body composition as well as health. When you do go to the doctor what blood tests should you ask for? What should you get checked What are some of the common things that might show up in lab work of a bodybuilder that some docs might mis interpret - creatine, AST liver elevations, occasionally fasting blood sugar spikes, blood count abnormalities, etc For hormones and testosterone in specific there is always a reference range that is considered normal and healthy. But obviously having testosterone on the higher end of normal would help males prefer better and build more muscle and burn fat. What steps could someone take to improve testosterone within the normal range? How much of that is strictly genetic? What supplements can someone use to help? What exactly is cholesterol and why do we actually care about it, and why anthony might have a better lipid panel than big pete despite eating the same macros. What exactly is cortisol and how does intense strength training effect cortisol levels? We hear it all the time, too much protein is bad for the liver and kidneys. What seems to be definition of "too much?" Some people are afraid of eating over the RDA of around 50g for males while other people over consume protein. Where is the limit?
