Blue Beetle - MOVIE REVIEW
from MOVIE Morning · host Gyan Chansrichawla
Hey everyone, the introduction of the first DCU hero (in the words of James Gunn) - Blue Beetle - has now arrived in theaters, with Xolo Maridueña in the title role. I have loved the character of Blue Beetle (albeit the Ted Kord version) for a long time and he's a character who's deserved more of a spotlight than he's been given by DC over the past few decades. This project was very interesting because it originally was set for an HBO Max release (now Max) but then moved to theatrical distribution. So, is Blue Beetle the film that will turn around DC's recent box office woes... or is it another generic superhero movie? Find out in this review! Blue Beetle: Directed by: Ángel Manuel Soto Written by: Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer Original Writers: John Rogers, Cully Hammer, Keith Giffen Produced by: Zev Foreman, John Rickard, K.C. Hodenfield, Alice S. Kim, Anna Elisa Mackowiak Executive Producers: Garrett Grant, Walter Hamada, Galen Vaisman Music by: Bobby Krlic Cinematography by: Pawel Pogorzelski Editing by: Craig Alpert Casting by: Chelsea Ellis Bloch, Marisol Roncali Production Design by: Jon Billington Costume Design by: Mayes C. Rubeo Cast: Xolo Maridueña, Adriana Barraza, Damían Alcázar, Elpidia Carrillo, Bruna Marquezine, Raoul Max Trujillo with Susan Sarandon and George Lopez Synopsis: Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab.
