BMT EP 123: "Lymphedema 101" featuring Occupational Therapist Sally Lachman, OTR/L, CHT, MBA, CLT

The Be More Today Show closes out the month of April with our final Occupational Therapist Sally Lachman. Join our conversation as we discuss ways to treat lymphedema and how having an MBA can help shape the future of the healthcare system. Sally has been an occupational therapist for 11 years.  In 2017 she became a certified lymphedema therapist but treated a mixture of neurological and orthopedic diagnoses. Throughout her career she always tried to find jobs in hand clinics or outpatient clinics to gain experience. Around 3 years ago she decided that she wanted more out of her career and set a plan to become a certified hand therapist.  She also wanted to start moving up the career ladder into management and supervisory roles. An opportunity presented itself and she enrolled in LIU for an MBA in Healthcare Administration.  Through the 2 1/2 years of being in the program she also sought out mentors from the American Society of hand therapists to help study and specialize in the upper extremity. She graduated with her MBA in May of 2022 and passed her certification exam, becoming a certified hand therapist in December 2022.
