B'nai B'rith Journalism awarded for 2026 in covering Diaspora

There are a lot of organizations aimed at deepening and strengthening the links between Israelis and Diaspora Jewry. The lives and fates of Jews abroad, however has not been a major focus of Israeli media. Few newspapers and television stations even have a reporter dedicated to covering Diaspora Jewry. B’nai B’rith World Center has been for nearly 30 years highlighting media coverage of Diaspora Jewry in the Israeli media and its prestigious award for Journalism recognizes some of the outstanding reportage here that help Israelis learn about, and improve those relations with Jewish communities abroad. This year’s award was announced this week and reporter Arieh O’Sullivan spoke with Alan Schneider, the director of the B’nai Brith world center in Jerusalem.
