"Bone Machine" (aka The Rise of the Bone Machines), is a hard rock Drop D tuned guitar instrumental produced for Film and Television licensing. This track's title comes from a throw-away answer I gave for a Bones TV show trivia question on Twitter awhile back. I think I put the show at season 23 episode 7, but the title stuck in my head and I built the riffing around the general theme and imagery that the title lends itself to. "Bone Machine" is built on 3 solid guitar hooks that drift through a key change from "D minor" to "D Major". Originally the song's main them guitar riff wasn't done with a Drop D tuning. I added the Drop D tuning during recording to give it some serious balls and bite. I mean hey, if the "Bone Machines" are going to rise up and take over, they're probably going to need a Drop D tuning to do it properly, or at least put the fear of god into people, one or the other..
