Bonus Call to Action - Team Rubicon

from The Anthem of the Adventurer · host Dan Zehner

Today on the show I’m giving you a more direct call to action. This week, tens of thousands of people are preparing to endure the wrath of Hurricane Florence, and a group of tens of thousands more are ready to deploy their skills to be the best part of their worst day and Get (Stuff) Done. Team Rubicon’s primary mission is providing disaster relief to those affected by natural disasters, be they domestic or international. By pairing the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders, medical professionals, and technology solutions, Team Rubicon aims to provide the greatest service and impact possible. Through continued service, Team Rubicon seeks to provide our veterans with three things they lose after leaving the military: a purpose, gained through disaster relief; community, built by serving with others; and identity, from recognizing the impact one individual can make. Coupled with leadership development and other opportunities, Team Rubicon looks to help veterans transition from military to civilian life. I’m a proud member of Team Rubicon Region V, and had the privilege of serving alongside my fellow tribe members in the wake of Hurricane Harvey in 2017. It was one of the most profoundly positive experiences of my life, and you can have that mix of adventure, purpose, and service too by signing up to deploy on their website. It only takes a few hours of training, and a little bit of gear and you’re good to go.
