Seattle is battling Detroit in Major League Baseball's American League Division Series. David Eskenazi shares the story of pitcher Fred Hutchinson, Seattle's first big baseball star. Hutch played for the Seattle Rainiers of the Pacific Coast League in 1938 right out of Franklin High School in the Rainier Valley. After a phenomenal season, he was "sold" to the Detroit Tigers, where he became a Major League Baseball star. Hutchinson is also the namesake of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
